      I’m pondering a way to make that category menu into a placeholder, so you can put the menu wherever you want it, like in the sidebar.

        Why not? Will it be possible to have templating system on top of it, so we can configure it the way we want? Other than just using CSS. But this won’t be a problem though, because if I want to use one of this, I won’t bother to change the menu at all.

          Hi,
          I followed instructions from install.txt but I have
          Parse error: parse error, unexpected $ in /assets/snippets/docman/includes/functions.php on line 98

          Any ideas?

            Where did you download your copy from? The file functions.php only has 82 lines!

            Ah, I see, it’s the version on my site. That is a development version, there for demo purposes mostly. DocMan is getting a complete reworking, and I keep that copy there for my own use. I suppose I should rename it to make that clear. Although I don’t see why it should be causing that error, it’s the exact same function that’s running the DocMan on my site!

            Ok, I still can’t figure out why it’s throwing that error, but in the functions.php file there is a function, quote_smart, that is causing the error.

            // secure sql insertion
            function quote_smart($value)
            {
               // Stripslashes
               if (get_magic_quotes_gpc()) {
                   $value = stripslashes($value);
               }
                $value = mysql_real_escape_string($value);
                return $value;
            }

            at least without this function it loses the error. But I’m still baffled, since it’s not even called anywhere when the error occurs, and certainly not in the function causing the error!

            I replaced that function with this one:

            // secure sql insertion
            function quote_smart($value)
            {
            return ((!get_magic_quotes_gpc()) ? mysql_real_escape_string($value) : mysql_real_escape_string(stripslashes($value)));
            }

            and now it appears to work correctly.

              Thank you very much,
              Sorry to download directly from your site, I thought it was the best idea wink

              I’m going to test that.

                Curious there : is there any particular reason why DocMan is not available anymore and not in the repository ?

                  It’s still available here, but I really really want to rework it. It was my very first "web app", over a year ago, and it shows!

                      I’m a little bit confused about the 2 downloadable versions of the docman snippet. As Susan mentioned, it’s available here. In addition, I did a search on the repository page and found this version. I wonder which I should use with 0.9.2.1? It seems the second one is newer, but is this menu.php part of that package? huh I think this snippet might be a precious little diamond for my purposes smiley I need a snippet to offer Downloads from outside of my webroot directory.
