[Snippet] FeedX

I’m having problems trying to read my forum xml using feedx...

the url is http://www.err-clan.com/forum/index.php?action=.xml

and i have this call to debug but it’s saying it’s unreachable. http://www.err-clan.com/forum/index.php?action=.xml [ERROR RETRIEVING FEED]

Is google Calendar feed still works? Another post mentioned that Google Calendar is obselete.

I tried to call a public google calendar but it’s showing me debug info; if I delete &debug then nothing shows up.

The gCalendar are setup directly from google site, not the API.

I try to get the script working, but without any luck so far. My snippet call:

still no feed. Basic info in debug says:

Occasionally posters have written of only getting the following line of code displaying on their web page from a FeedX snippet call:
" FeedX: : /Users/myname/Sites/myclient/assets/snippets/FeedX/classes/feedx.class.inc.php "

Nobody ever responded to them, so I was scratching my head in dismay when I got the same response on my test site.

In an "aha" moment this morning, I learned this happens when the feedx.snippet.php code has been copied into a snippet on the site, but without the actual snippet itself being FTP’d to the server.

After placing all of the snippet code into a folder at /assets/snippets/FeedX/, then the snippet works just fine.

OK, so the snippet seems to work perfectly -- with one exception: RSS or Atom feeds brought to a page by the snippet call can still include unescaped ampersands, which cause XHTML to burp and the page to fail validation.

The snippet uses ’|xa|’ to convert ’&’ when it is executed, but it has no capability to perform a similar conversion from the typical ’&’ to the XHTML-required ’&’ when the feeds are brought in.

How can we automatically convert this (and other such characters) in the links, titles, or content which are included in the feeds?

I need some help creating a Tpl for my feedX.... I’m not sure how to create files that use the same title that have placeholders and calls for other chunks.

I obviously create a file called competitioninformation.tpl and I know to put the placeholders in it but what do I call the file that the children go in? Do I include the children calls in the competitioninformation.tpl file as well or create a separate file?

I’m starting to figure out how to do the template but I’m finding the feed is being duplicated... it’s displaying info once, correctly then underneath it, it’s doubling the info up and displaying incorrectly.

What are the parameters in your FeedX snippet call?

It sounds like the data is being displayed both in your template and then in some preset param.
