Improvement of Weblogin snippet 1,0

    I’m modifying Weblogin to add the following features :

    • add a placeholder (used in the form template) to show the username after login
    • add a placeholder (used in the form template) to add a link to the modify webuser profile page when login
    • add a placeholder (used in the form template) to add a link to the signup page when on login page
    Are this stuffs already exist ? in the snippet in a development version ? by using different snippets ?
    Are you interested by this modified version of Weblogin

      Weblogin has not been touched in a while and we’d welcome any improvements indeed. smiley

        While you’re at it, would love an out-of-the-box-AJAX-Login solution smiley

          Quite a while ago I hacked the weblogin snippet for a client who got thoroughly confused by being returned to the login page before being redirected (he was on a fairly slow server) and tried logging in multiple times eventhough the login was succesfull. I changed the login script so that the messages appearing on the login page adapted to the various states; logging in, logged in & waiting to be redirected, logging out & logged out waiting for redirection. That all happened in a hurry and I subsequently forgot all about it.

          I just now reviewed my changes but can’t really make sense of them anymore, there seem to be more changes then really necessary huh sad Anyway if you’re going to work on it OncleBen it may be something you could take aboard. All I can offer in the way of further explanation is the various messages that I’ve used.

            1) Consolidated
            OncleBen31, I have my login in a little box that appears on every page. Sort of like below, so it’s consolidated in a very small area. You might wish to consolidate all the ways a user might wish to interact with their account and consider sites that have the login box on every page of the site.

            Forgot your Password?

            After the user logs in, they see

            Welcome back, "membername"

            Logout or Edit your Profile

            2) New Feature?
            It would be cool if the User Profile page had a way to easily add custom fields to the profile. I don’t like the idea of a email input box to quickly get sign ups to newsletters because you never get the full user profile filled out. It would be neat to be able to easily add a couple newsletter names with checkboxes so that when you had a new registration, the user could check off if they wished to receive the newsletter(s) when they registered for the site. Then wherever you wished to have a "Sign up for newsletters" blurb, you’d just say "Edit your profile to subscribe etc." Users could easily "unsubscribe" too, by editing their profile and "unchecking" any newsletters. Seems the logical place to have this type thing. I realize that this is slightly offtopic for pure WebLogin, but it’s all tied together. Thank you for your efforts on improving the WebLogin. Just a thought.
