"Chunks" tab does not exist (0.9.5.1-RC1, rev. 2258)

    This evening I updated one of my sites with latest revision of ModX publicly available on SVN (rev. 2258).
    "Chunks" tab dissapeared.
    I suppose the reason for this is trivial, so it would be nice if someone could fix this
    and commit this, as well as enable us with new version of file(s) for fixing sites running rev. 2258.

      What version did you upgrade from? And, have you run the installer as part of the upgrade? My guess is that this is part of separating out the chunk permissions from snippet permissions and would recommend you check any custom roles you have setup that these permissions have been allowed as required.

      I suppose the reason for this is trivial, so it would be nice if someone could fix this
      and commit this, as well as enable us with new version of file(s) for fixing sites running rev. 2258.
      Please remember that the trunk may not always be stable (although we do try our best to maintain stability) - some feature changes may span several commits. In this case, I think the fix is a simple case of checking that the installer has been run and checking a few settings.

      However, fixes and updates will always be committed to the trunk as and when the team feel they are ready, not just to fix sites for people who have updated to the latest bleeding edge release and find something not working as they would like. wink

        I upgraded from 0.9.5 RC3 by running installer.
        I do not have any customer roles defined, just default "Administrator" one.

          Okay, can you check the Admin role in the database (using phpMyAdmin or similar) that the chunk permissions have been set for the Admin role.

            new_chunk, edit_chunk, save_chunk and delete_chunk fields in modx_user_roles table are all set to 1 for Administrator.
            Any more places where I can look?

              Have you ever logged out of the manager since upgrading? It’s possible you are using roles cached in a long-standing session. I’ve definitely seen it happen anyway...

                Yes, that was the problem. I just opened manager from another machine and "Chunks" are there, alive and well.

                  Phew! Glad (and sorry) to see this thread already exists...I thought I was losing my mind.

                  Been experiencing the same issue here, running on a local testing server Apache/2.0.59 (Win32), PHP 5.2.0, MySQL 5.0.27-community-nt...

                  However, when I clear my cookies/etc, I still don’t get the tab.

                  Regardless, I had to run the above SQL (and set everything to ’1’, of course) to fix for me... Odd how that’d somehow drop off, but I can possibly supply another clue:

                  I CREATED this local testing version via the SQL Backup Utility. Could it be that the Backup process somehow lost reference to the *_chunk columns? (or worse, even more?)

                  Uh oh!

                  I just tried Backing Up again (selecting ALL tables + DROP TABLE statements) and sure enough the columns are missing in even the most recent Backup .SQL file creation. However, I can see the CHUNKS tab on the Remote server, only the *_chunk columns don’t exist on the Remote SQL DB either huh Very odd...

                  I have ran MODx Installer Updates on the remote box, and all I can say is that it appears these columns dropped off somehow. Therefore, this traveled back down through the backup utility and into my local testing box. At this point, I’m not suggesting the Backup manager is broke, or anything else in particular... May need to keep our eyes open for this one...

                    Running the upgrade script should have added those fields to the table... huh

                    In any case, try the now public release candidate of 0.9.6 available at http://modxcms.com/beta.html, run the upgrade script, and see if you still have the problem. And make sure you log out of manager before upgrading... wink

                      I wonder: (c|sh)ould checking for and subsequently "logging out" any "logged in" users be an initial step during the install/upgrade process? In other words, is it scriptomagically preventable?
