RichText TV Not Saving (0.9.5.1, rev 2220)

I have a pretty simple site that consists of three TVs (Template Variables) ...2 of which are type "RichText"

For as long as I can recall using MODx, I continually have noticed this problem:

When I am updating a page that has any RichText TVs assigned, the new values fail to save to the database? The weirdest part is that SOMETIMES it works, and sometimes it does not. In other words, it appears fairly random...

I have tested entering large HTML blobs, simple HTML, numbers, and even a few letters, etc. Sometimes it saves, sometimes it does not...

The only "solution" I have found to work is to enable QuickEdit plugin and browse to the page directly, updating via QE...

Is anyone else working with RichText TVs that have experienced data not saving? Does anyone have ideas for cause/solution?

NOTES:
I’m using various versions of MODx framework from 0.9.5 stable up to the most recent SVN.
(As for this example, tested specifically against revision 2220)

By chance are you using Safari? If so, I think it’s a Safari problem (I’ve noticed it too) with Tiny MCE that probably is gone with the nightly build of Safari. IOW, it’s a Safari bug.

FF 2/WinXP

I’m having the same problem, and I have done with my last 2 installs of MODx (version 0.9.2 & 0.9.5).

Again Rich Text TVs won’t save sometimes, but then sometimes they do.

I’m win XP/ Firefox 1.5.

Any help would be appreciated.

Update: I’ve also checked with IE6 and IE7 and can confirm the same problem, so I don’t think it’s a browser issue.

Just came across this myself actually. Richtext TV... thing is, it works fine every single time when logged in as an administrator, however I’ve created a user with permissions to edit *only* a certain area of the site, and it seems to happen only for this user. All other Tv’s save fine except for this one.

Under resources->Tv’s I’ve also checked the checkbox which corresponds to the permission the user has.

In my case, I’m logged in as Administrator, no special user groups or permissions.

It’s just a standard Rich Text TV attached to a template. Works as soon as I switch it to plain text.

Roan, I just solved the issue over here... Are you using "Full Featured" as the TinyMCE theme? It seems it’s the only one that works, and the others "simple" and "advanced" both don’t seem to work (as previously discussed).... Give it a go

I guess the question now is, why can you only use the fully featured RTE?

Interesting... let me look and see what TinyMCE version I am on...

UPDATE: I am using "Full Featured" version on ALL my MODx sites, and yet I still experience RichText TVs not saving... However, I have never modified the TinyMCE version, always have left it as-is during original Install.

I wonder if I changing it (say, to simple) then changing it back can correct this?

Either way, I am using Full Featured, and I still experience this bug... I personally suspect this is likely a server-side/processing issue, but obviously I am not certain...

I just installed a new modx and have the same result with rte, [xp, apache, ff, ie]

and when i disabled rte, the tv saved.
