I had a different problem; an image in the full news article was showing up in the summary, breaking the layout. I moved the image to the end of the paragraph, beyond the text used for the summary. Of course, the new NewsListing snippet solved that problem even better by using the "summary" (introtext) field for the summaries.
To add an image from the NewsPublisher, you’d need to add the "add image" menu item to the FCKEditor toolbar; I’m not sure it that works on the NewsPublisher or not.
Hai Susan,
Thanks for your quick reply. I tried using the FCKEditor toolbar, must say it looks good but I’m unable to upload an image.
Let me clearify that a bit more.....
If you use the FCKEditor in the back-end of MODx and you hit the "insert image" button on the toolbar, a screen popsup with and URL to insert or to "BROWSE" for a file..... Well in the front-end it shows only an URL and it doesn’t shows the "browse" button. Guess it has something to do with permissions but I couldn’t find where, what or how.... I also checked the FCK site, but no luck.
So if someone has an answer please.
- Susan .... how did you manage to get your client to insert an image to the full or summary news? Through front- or back-end?
Thanks again.
Paul

Back end.
As I mentioned, I’m not sure if the Resource Browser works with QuickEdit or NewsPublisher. It’s a matter of paths and/or permissions or something, and I’m not very good at javascript, so I haven’t got a clue as to how it all works.

I did a bit of looking, and the Resource Browser works fine in QuickEdit, so I guess there’s no reason why it shouldn’t work in NewsPublisher.
I also tried the resource browser in QuickEdit, unfortunately it doesn’t show the browse button. So I am unable to upload or to browse for an image.
I checked to complete files and couldn’t find any error or whatsoever. Does anyone know the answer to this?
Many thanks for helping!
Cheers Paul
The problem lies with settings variables not being read by the plugin.
For some reason the current FCK editorplugin does not seem to recieve them when running from the frontend (NewsPublisher).
Quickedit does not have this issue because it runs as if it was the backend.
Mark thanks again for all your! Superb!!
I’m trying to do something similiar. I am still unclear how to get the rich text editor to display the image option for web users on the frontend. I’ve created a TV for the NewsPublisher to show the rich text editor, but it has only the basic controls: Bold, Italic, Underline, and Link.
I am fiddling with the plugin files for the fckeditor, but nothing seems to work yet. I’m flummoxed.
