Content Encoding Error in parts of the manager after upgrading to Evolution?

Sadly, this is the first encounter of any issues I have experienced related to an upgrade to Evo 1.0.0. Upgraded from 0963 and everything appeared fine until logging into the manager.

The navigational tabs are all displayed, as well as the Site Tree. However, the main window only displays the following error:

Content Encoding Error
The page you are trying to view cannot be shown because it uses an invalid or unsupported form of compression.

(NOTE: This is on Windows XP, FireFox 3.5.1. Tested on IE8, there was still an error, though it was identified differently in IE. See attached image, note that my site tree is functional, just hidden )

Checking the server’s error logs shows nothing relevant. I can, however, navigate and edit my site’s elements/resources. However, I cannot edit Site Configuration or view the welcome page.

I may have to consider downgrading back to 0.9.6.3 until I can figure this one out? Does anyone know of the implication of installing 0.9.6.3 over Evo 1.0.0?

Has anyone else ran into this issue? (FYI, running on CentOS 5.3 / Apache/2.2.3 / MySQL 5.0.45 / PHP 5.1.6 )

This a newer server, not fully managed by me, so it’s possible there’s something new at play here that I might not be considering. Definitely a first on my end though...

I do know that PHP 5.1.6 has a reputation of being pretty buggy ... almost as bad as PHP 5.0.4 was. DId you turn off gzip compression?

Odd that it would work fine for 0.9.6.3 but not evo? Wonder what would have changed in Evo to cause it to error like that...

Odd. Just ran into the exact same issue on a different server, CentOS 5.2, PHP Version 5.2.6, Apache/2.2.10...

I am having the same problem on my local server. The zlib settings are disabled in my .htaccess file. My enviroment details are as follows Firefox 3.51(also Chrome)/PHP 5.26/Apache 2.063/Windows Vista. Gzip is enabled

It’s the same on:
PHP Version: 5.2.9-0.dotdeb.1
Server API: CGI/FastCGI
Suhosin Patch 0.9.7
Zend Engine v2.2.0

Does the site work fine and everything else work as well, except the Welcome page in MODx Manager as well as the Site Configuration page? Or are you seeing this issue in other places, too?

For me it were all content in frame name="main" in the manager

Clarification added: When I deactivated zlib in the php.ini there where no problems!

Yeah the site works fine, the main manager screen and the settings seem to be the only pages affected. weird I’m gonna upgrade my live site anyway and hopefully it works

Have you cleared your browser cache and cookies?
