Configuration warning: 'GD and/or Zip PHP extensions not found'

uncomment extension=php_zip.dll and extension=php_gd2.dll in php.ini then restart apache

I’m sure that would do the trick on a Windows server, but it won’t be of much help on a Solaris server

Is there a way to install PHP ZIP extension inside WHM (with EasyApache)?

I heard back from my host (this is Dreamhost) who said that Zip PHP is not included in default php installation (GD is), but I am welcome to do a custom install and include it. I got sent to a page with blinking notices saying anything I do is my reponsibility, they cannot help with it, etc etc - understandable, but puts me off the idea.

So I am stuck with the bright red notification, I guess. I do not afaik use zip within the manager. Are there any other problems if I just ignore this and carry on?

I’m in a similar boat as the last poster, can’t we just disable the zip function in the manager and keep truckin’? I don’t think I’ll ever need it anyways for this current project.

The zip function is used in the MODx file manager (Manager -> Elements -> Manage Files) - if you are not bothered about utilizing that functionality, you can safely ignore the warning.

In Evo 1.1, we are looking at making the configuration warnings more configurable - i.e. allowing them to be viewed once and then hidden, make them viewable by only the admin role etc.

I have been using site/manager as is with no problems (that I haven’t caused ) so unless there is some functionality I haven’t yet approached, I guess I’ll go with the "ignore the warning".

Well, my OSX MAMP 1.8.4 doesn’t seem to have zip nor GD. So I rather have this stuff optional. Now I look at Configuration in red Captcha is off by default, I never use it. I guess features like these should only pop-up when I activate them? Nevertheless thanks guys for 1.0.3!

Could we talk someone into filing a report in JIRA about the warning? I think it’s a great candidate to make a little more accommodating for the next release.

Yes, the module was down there in the EasyApache/PHP settings: "exhaustive options list".
