trying to upgrade to 1.0.5- wont allow me to select upgrade

Has anyone ever come across this before?
I need to upgrade an old site in Evo thats been in development and left for dead for nearly 2yrs- client sold company, and now its all system go.
Back in 2009, it was done in evo 1.0 and needs to be evo 1.0.5

Followed the instructions as per wiki http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/Upgrading_Guide

have backed up, renamed my old manager and uploaded via ftp client all files, but I cant get past the first install screen. The issue being it WONT let me select the upgrade, stays on new install def dont want this, and wont be changed.
and the other options wont select at all.

Help please

Update: tried removing the new manager in ftp, and allow it to overwrite my old one to see if that was the issue,
should I leave my config_inc file in or not, have never upgraded before and have about 10 sites to do, so am very very nervous of doing this again, most of my other sites are 1.0.4, and some of them are huge 100pages plus and I cant risk this happening to them.

This one im not too worried about as I can always reload the old one, but still doesnt leave me with any confidence

ok Have now done that and update is working- so maybe i did something wrong or wiki is wrong, left this post on incase any other poor sufferer has this issue at 4.30 am

Its up now kind of, but the left menu styling has for the menu has gone, adn my ajax search has an error

Check the permissions on the manager/includes/config.inc.php file.

As I coudlnt resolve this earlier, I changed it back- ie reloaded the old manager and essentialy went back to 1.0, however this is only as it was ’live’, id rather not do my testing in public, so will reload in another domain and do all the upgrades there instead.

actually I thought thats what i was doing, but the site had aother ideas. think I may delet and start over- reload from back up, wha a complete pain- my lack of experience in the upgrade area Im afraid.

so havent been able to do thi and had to wipe the entire web folder and start over. So if anyone had experience of doing this and feels like sharing, I would appreciate it.

I’ve done numerous upgrades from 1.0.x to 1.0.5 with no issues. What are you using to upload the new files? I know sometimes people do incremental upgrades when leaping over several updates, e.g. from 1.0 to 1.0.2, then 1.0.2 to 1.0.4, then to 1.0.5

The Ajax search issues are relatively easy to fix, it’s just changing some of the parameters that have changed.

Im using filezilla.

I did the install, upgrade etc, then reloaded my assets folder.

Its on an new server in that Ive moved it from the orginal webserver/test domain I was using, but all the paths & verions apart from the server name are identical.
