Thanks for article Creating a Subdomain from a Folder using Virtual Hosts , working like a charm. But when I want to build a link to resource in web context from dev ([[~1]] for example) I get nothing.
Will there be an possibility to access resources using standard MODx tags, or the area of visibility is limited to the current context?

It should work; are you sure that something else is preventing the link from being generated? Published?

If something is, I not found it. Site status - online, cache cleared, both pages published, MODx error log empty, Apache error log empty.

Only now discovered. Links are displayed correctly in the web context only to resource in any another context, but not vice versa.

I have created base_url, http_host, site_start, site_url settings for web context too, but it has has no effect...

You mean when viewing a resource in a context other than "web" that links are not generated back to the "web" context properly? Adding those settings should definitely work if that’s the case, but if it isn’t and you could add a ticket in Jira for this problem, I’ll take a look at it this week.

I’m having the same issue - I was just wondering if this is a confirmed bug or if anyone has succesfully enabled linking between subdomains. My first thought was that I had incorrectly input the additional settings in web context. The Revo Docs say,
f you’re going to be linking back to the ’web’ context from this context, you’ll want to add those same Context Settings (with ’web’-specific values, of course) to the ’web’ context.
. The problem is I’m not sure what exactly "web-specific values" are. An example here would have been nice. My guess is that web specific values for the domain 3eimpact.org (web context) are as follows:

              base_url /
              http_host 3eimpact.org
              site_start 1
              site_url http://www.3eimpact.org

As with the previous person who posted - I also am able to link from web context to dev context but not the other way.

So, in summary, I was just wanting to verify that the issue is in fact a bug and not a matter of me just putting in the wrong settings.

              Thanks,

              -matt

This is actually a security issue that I’m working on right now; basically, the web Context is delivered with an Access Control assigned to the Administrator user group. This is problematic, and you can solve this problem by removing this Access Control or adding an "anonymous" Access Control to the web Context with a minimal Access Policy containing a single Permission: load

If using the latest SVN from branches/2.0, you can create the Access Policy by going to Security -> Access Controls and selecting the Access Policies tab (the Add button is at the top left of the grid). Then go to Contexts, right-click the web Context, select Update Context and go to the Access Permissions tab. Click Add Access Control, select the (anonymous) User Group, give it an Authority of 9999 and choose the Minimal Access Policy you created.

This will be resolved in the default installation before the first Release Candidate.

I do have some problems with RC-1 concerning multiple sites/domains.

I have 4 contexts: web, siteA, siteB, siteC. Context web contains resources for all 3 other contexts/sites.
Unfortunately I cannot access the resources in web from any of the other resource. But I can share resource
between the other 3 contexts (siteA can link to resources from siteB and siteC and vice versa).

Each of the 3 contexts has the following context settings:
                    base_url: /
                    site_start: X
                    error_page: X
                    http_host: www.example.com
                    site_url: http://www.example.com/
                    site_name: SiteX

I placed the following code inside a resource of siteA. ID 14 is a container within context web:
                    [[getResources? &parents=`14` &sortby=`pagetitle` &tpl=`customers_web_tpl`]]

customers_web_tpl contains just a demo call: Hello cutomer [[+pagetitle]]

                    It returns nothing.

Did you make sure the user browsing the Resource has access to all Contexts properly?
