First of all, Congratulation for the new release! Well done MODx team.
Install worked fine on my Windows WAMP installation and I could install most snippets using the package interface. Only eForm seems missing.
I am pleased with the visual appearance of the new manager look. BUT is has a major drawback: It is VERY slow to work with. It takes several seconds for the pages to display between looking at different Web Resource pages. And this is on a local WAMP installation where the old Evolution Manager is lightning fast. Tried IE7 and FF3 (Firebug disabled). Both are similar in speed.
Is this something the development team is aware of?
Will this be addressed in future updates/releases?
Regards
Henrik
Thanks for the reply. I perfectly understand that it is beta and there will be areas which need fine tuning.
One of the main issues I am observing is the refresh and redraw of the Resource/Content panel on the left side. Whenever a resource item on the content tree is clicked on, the whole panel is erased and redrawn from scratch which takes a while (3 to 4 secs on my machine). I know "a while" is subjective and depends on the speed of the machine and browser used. Compared to Revo, I find Modx 0.9.6 is very responsive and has almost no lag when working with the UI.
This may be a side effect from switching from mootools to Ext2 UI libraries.

hwmaier,
The UI is mostly JS driven and as such there may be a processor hit from the client. The 096 client had a lot more HTML and less JS and therefore was significantly lighter. We will be looking at optimizations, cleanups and generally ways to shrink the default manager.
Thanks for your interest.

I’ve found that with any of these AJAX heavy, Smarty-based interfaces (we use Open Goo for example for project management) run like a dream in Chrome or Safari 4 but are slow in Firefox and IE. The latest Firefox is due in a couple of weeks and will also feature a speedier JavaScript engine.

Without AJAX and JS the page loads would take longer. Lets not forget that the 096 document tree also refreshes, the document runs through the "cleaning up" process before reloading—all which gets progressively slower as your document count grows. This is not the case in Revolution. It is certainly not a compiled desktop app but as someone who uses literally dozens of AJAX based web apps every day and none nearing the complexity of MODx that it seems well inline w/ them including Google Apps and others.
We will definitely strive for improvement.
Cheers,
Jay

When you guys are saying about disabling Firebug, do you mean entirely, or just disabling the resource-heavy stuff like Console/Script/Net?
