    Hi There,

This is going to sound like a really dumb question but how do you download Modx Revolution?

When I click to download the file: "modx-2.0.0-alpha-6.zip" from here: htt p://wtf.modxcms.com/downloads/?relPath=core

The browser just goes back to: htt p://wtf.modxcms.com/downloads/ and nothing downloads - despite the following URL appearing in the browser window: htt p://wtf.modxcms.com/downloads/?d=core/modx-2.0.0-alpha-6.zip

This is the same in Safari and Firefox on OSX Leopard - Obviously I’m missing something simple right?

Any help would be much appreciated.

    Cheers,

    Ben

Hi Ben, at this point if you’re going to play with Revolution, I’d sincerely recommend the SVN version. There’s so many bugs that’ve been fixed in it and other things buttoned up.

While that’s true, Ryan, I have had this problem too in Firefox and IE on Windows.

Any idea what might be causing it? You don’t want prospective Revo users leaving because they can’t try it (the less determined ones).

        --- Edit

Never mind that, cms, I just found a working link it in the most obvious place: http://modxcms.com/download/#alpha

            Thanks Coffee Bean,

That link worked for me - can’t believe I didn’t see that.

            Cheers

No problem (I can’t believe I missed it too!)

I’d recommend giving the SVN version a whirl though, as Ryan says.

You need a subversion client to download that one is that right?

Yep. (The page in Ryan’s post tells you what to do, and recommends clients).

                    I’m confused
I am trying modx because Joomla is a little difficult with templates
modX seems interesting but people seem to go out of their way to make life difficult

Do the people that make the download page, not test it?
It seems a simple and basic thing to do.

@fred1554 What exactly are you confused about? The download works fine for me on OS X. Can you provide more information? And just FYI, yes we do test it. But we don’t appreciate unnecessarily condescending or dramatic comments; they are anything but useful in helping us help you solve whatever problem you may be having.

                      Cheers
