    I have not built from SVN, i have just downloaded the package from the main modx website - as such i don’t have a build directory
    I think maybe you should just move on until beta if you are not going to post details of your environment or make any other proactive effort into helping us determine the problem. It will almost definitely be an issue with your environment, either memory_limit, PDO or mysql misconfigurations, or directories that are not writable, but no one can tell without phpinfo() data at a minimum. Full environment details would be even more helpful.

      A Proactive effort? I have asked exactly what people need in order to help me and how to get those details.

      But you are right I will just wait until beta.

      Thanks.

        Sorry, we never answered your question about how to get more information about your configuration and the fact that you asked got lost in the shuffle. embarrassed
        (Just a side note, though, the fact that you don’t already know how to do this is a hint that alpha versions might not be in your best interest) wink

        Probably the most reliable thing, at this point, is to rename the modx index.php file to index.php.bak and create a new index.php with just this code:

        <?php
        phpinfo();
        ?>

        Going to yoursite.com should launch that and give you a ton of information about your configuration.

          I too had the blank screen problem trying to install Revolution on my 1and1 account. I went through the trouble shooting steps in this thread but the final issue was that the 1and1 PHP 4 installation didn’t include PDO. I switched to PHP 5, which has PDO, and it seems to have solved the problem.

            I have PDO enabled with php5 and still get blank screen after install.

            also when i try to access manager - i get it to try to connect to www.localhost.com instead of localhost only.

            and why-oh-why are you using smarty now for templating - it’s slow and bloated!

              Unfortunately many people think Smarty is slow based on this common myth that goes around. I have yet to see any diagnostics or benchmarks showing Smarty with caching enabled to be any slower.

                I to just get a blank screen after clicking install on the "Installation Summary" page.

                All "Pre-installation tests were successful."

                The error log, install.config.20090603T153541.log, says: "(FATAL) Could not load core MODx configuration!"

                  nm, my memory_limit was set to 8MB, I upped this to 128MB and everything installed fine.

                  I think the memory_limit check on the pre-Installation must not be completely accurate.

                  Note: I’m running PHP Version 5.2.6 and MySQL 5.0.41 under MAMP 1.7.1 on Leopard 10.5.7

                    Thanks for the information; we’ll review the pre-install checks to make sure this is detected properly.

                      I was having issues with getting it to work with MAMP PRO 1.7.2 - I knew it was a memory issue from reading all the posts but changing the memory size in the PHP.ini file didn’t help... It seems that MAMP Pro stores the php.ini file in the application package, I though it was using the php.ini file in the MAMP folder.

                      To change the memory_limit in MAMP PRO (make sure you quit the application first! wink )
                      Open MAMP PRO 1.7.2 folder > Right click on the MAMP PRO application icon > Select ’Show package contents’ > open ’Contents’ folder > open ’Resources’ folder > Edit the php5.ini file

                      Should work just fine after that!
