    Hi all,
I completed install successfully, at least I didn’t see any errors, but after clicking the go to manager I get this error

Warning: prepare(/path/to/domain/html/modx2/core/cache/web/context.cache.php) [function.prepare]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /path/to/domain/html/modx2/core/model/modx/modcontext.class.php on line 49

Warning: prepare(/path/to/domain/html/modx2/core/cache/web/context.cache.php) [function.prepare]: failed to open stream: No such file or directory in /path/to/domain/html/modx2/core/model/modx/modcontext.class.php on line 49

Warning: prepare() [function.include]: Failed opening '/path/to/domain/html/modx2/core/cache/web/context.cache.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/local/php-4.4.8-1/share/pear') in /path/to/domain/html/modx2/core/model/modx/modcontext.class.php on line 49

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /path/to/domain/html/modx2/core/model/modx/modx.class.php on line 2375

looking in the core/cache/web directory on the box and the folder is empty.
I looked at the installer but don’t see there either the file context.cache.php so I assume it suppose to be created on install.

    how can I troubleshoot this?

You need to make sure your core/cache/ directory (and everything under it) is writable by the PHP process.

          sorry sinbad,
I’m using your thread because a newbie problem don’t make me install alpha 6.
I hope someone can help me here on this:

MODx requires the PDO extension when native PDO is being used and it does not appear to be loaded.

          Is a server problem?

You need to use the PDO emulation, open up index.php and find this:

/* [OPTIONAL]: for forcing emulated PDO when required native PDO drivers are not available */
            /* define('XPDO_MODE', 2); */

            then uncomment that define.

...this is not enough to make it works sad

Specifically, I’ve found this line in index.php that is in the root directory but I’m trying executing setup

and the server is running Php 5.2.*

What error message are you getting now?

Oh, sorry, didn’t read your post carefully enough.. Add the same define to the top of index.php that is in /setup folder.
