    If you put an index.html page in the 097 install directory, does it render or show 500 error? I have no idea what the issue might be or I would know specifically what to ask for from your environment. Too many possibilities. I need your help to figure out what is unique about the local and remote environments which are providing different results.

      first diffrence between the two is that local is a windows machine running apatche, php and mySQL where as remote is a linux production server other than that not many diffrences placing a index.html makes no diffrence as the priority of run is set to php over html.

        Um, then remove/replace the index.php file.

          Um, then remove/replace the index.php file.

          Removing it will just make things worse as then there is no "Modx index file"

          and replacing it make no diffrence.

            If you remove the index.php (rename it to index.php.bak) you’ll see if the index.html renders or likewise produces the 500 errors.

              [Wed Jun 25 14:41:32 2008] [error] [client 81.110.96.***] Premature end of script headers: /home/******/public_html/manager/index.php

              this is the error created.

              when renaming index.php and loading a .html instead NO problem...
              when changing back to index.php back to same error...

              i have removed all files and reinstalled to a new database each time no luck..

              I am basically getting nowhere..

              Does anyone have any idea????

                I installed alpha3 advanced into a subdomain. Removed set up after the successful install. Went to sudomain/manager and encountered the 500 Internal Server error. Download alpha 3 to stick the htaccess file. Didn’t work. Renamed manager/index.php to html and got this error:
                setDebug(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE); $modx->setLogLevel(MODX_LOG_LEVEL_ERROR); $modx->setLogTarget('FILE'); $modx->initialize('mgr'); $modx->getRequest(); $modx->getParser(); if (isset($modx) && is_object($modx)) { if (!$modx->getRequest()) { $modx->_log(MODX_LOG_LEVEL_FATAL,"Could not load the MODx manager request object."); } $modx->request->initialize(); $modx->request->handleRequest(); } exit();

                Renamed subdomain/index.php to .html and got this error:
                Error 503
                Site temporarily unavailable
                "; exit(); } // start output buffering ob_start(); // Create an instance of the modX class if (!$modx= new modX()) { @ob_end_flush(); @include(MODX_CORE_PATH . 'error/unavailable.include.php'); header('HTTP/1.1 503 Service Unavailable'); echo "
                Error 503
                Site temporarily unavailable
                "; exit(); } // Set the actual start time $modx->startTime= $tstart; // Set additional logging options including level and target: $modx->setLogLevel(MODX_LOG_LEVEL_ERROR); $modx->setLogTarget('FILE'); // Set debugging mode (i.e. error_reporting): $modx->setDebug(E_ALL & ~E_NOTICE); // Initialize the default 'web' context $modx->initialize('web'); // execute the request handler if (!MODX_API_MODE) { $modx->handleRequest(); }

                I very rarely ever have permission issues on my linux server, but I double checked anyways. All directories are 755, and all files are 644. I checked a few of the config files and they all have the same info:
                <?php
                define('MODX_CORE_PATH', '/home/mericms/public_html/terra/core/');
                define('MODX_CONFIG_KEY', 'config');
                ?>

                I mention the above because I don’t know if it was supposed to write something different or not the way 096 does.

                My linux server info: Apache 2.0.63 / PHP 5.2.6 / MySQL 5.0.51a-community
                The dbase tables were written.

                  During install I changed the prefix to alpha3_

                  I just changed them to the default modx_ prefix. Now I get a blank page.

                  Is their a config page that has the dbase info written to it? Or is it a dbase table where this info is stored?

                    First, why would you ever rename the index.php to index.html? That simply doesn’t make any sense.

                    Without further details of your environment, what package you installed, and what instructions you did and didn’t follow, I have no idea how to diagnose your problems, but the first thing I would check is to make sure PDO is enabled (especially the pdo_mysql driver support).

                      Can you point me to instructions for installing? I didn’t see them in the downloads area.

                      I changed the index.php to html because earlier in this thread it was suggested as part of troubleshooting.
