Thank you for the guide BobRay! I was able to follow it and migrate a site from 0.9.6 to revolution quite easily.

Revolution appears to be very solid. Looking forward to when WebloginPE and a few other snippets are ported over!

Currently can’t see the Google Analytics transport zip available via Revolution Package Management yet..

So I’ve gone to Content Element => New plugin, all seems to be the same except no (0.9.6) configuration tab. So I can only assume Properties is the equivalent. My question is how or where do I put the config data needed by 0.9.6 plugin to work in revolution or will it simply just not work, yet?

Is there currently a recommended way/best practice for importing Resources (and possibly Elements) into a MODx Revolution instance? (namely RC-2+, via database directly...not using "Import HTML")

Specifically, I am hoping there is a way that I can directly insert records into modx_site_content. I am very comfortable with doing this in Evolution, then simply updating the site cache to account for the newly imported Resource(s).

Until I become more familiarized with Revo’s new "engine" (e.g. xPDO, ..., etc) I am going to play it safe and do everything via the Manager via Copy/Paste, etc. Unfortunately, I have hundreds of Resources to move over and am curious of any potential shortcuts to bring them into Revolution’s scope.

I recall Jason mentioning via IM that this would not be possible way back in Alpha, and am looking to confirm if this is still the case, and if so, why? Is "Import HTML" currently the only option for automating the import of resources to a revo instance?

I tried exporting the modx_site_content table from Evo and importing it into Revo. One field was left blank (context, I think), but otherwise it works. I think that field now defaults to ’web’ so, in theory, it would work fine with no intervention (although you’d need to update any tags in the resources to the new style -- you could do that by editing the .SQL dump file).

I think you could also do the export, import thing with chunks (modx_site_htmlsnippets).

            YMMV. wink

Using the new API, you can write an import from anything you imagine. Do not rely on SQL imports, as database changes will increase as Revolution moves forward...

Provisioner may help in due course, depending how much data you need to import. http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php/topic,49603.msg290584.html#msg290584 .......and whether you can install the connectors support package in the remote Evolution site.
