    Hello Masterz, hello guys

there is another reason for the blank page. A directory "_compiled" is expect in /setup/templates/ you have to create it and make it writeable for the php process.(Or will it create by the install process?)

here is a my own quick installation guide. (php as apache-module)

    1. rename _build/build.config.sample.php to _build/build.config.php and set the necessary infos in it.
    2. make the directorys "/[root]", "/manager", "/connectors", "/core/packages","/core/cache","/core/export" writable.
    3. create the directory "/setup/templates/_compiled" and make it writeable
    4. create a blank file "/core/config/config.inc.php" and make it writable
    5. run via browser domain.tld/_build/transport.core.php
Once that script is finished executing, confirm that you now have a file named core/packages/core.transport.zip and a directory core/packages/core/ containing a manifest.php and many other files/directories.
    6. run domain.tld/setup/
Make sure you check both the "Core package has been manually unpacked" and "Files are already in-place" options when installing from SVN.
if the setup finished and you call your new installation by the browser an error will occur something like "no vaild content typ".
Go to the database and insert an content type in the table PREFIX_content_type.
Iam not sure what is necessary to insert. Here it work with just all fields blank and name "text/html", save it, and thats it.

edit: thats bullshit, you can setup a content-type at the backend under tools -> content-types.
    maybe this can help.
    hasta luego, Stefan

First of all : Hi everyone, as I’m a newposter to this community, even if I already managed myself a bit with Modx, both stable and 0.9.7 alpha. cool
Second : Thanks a lot for all the job, both coding and documentation done so far that allowed me to not even bother you yet. kiss
Third : Apologizes for this 0.9.7 SVN newbie intervention, but I’m pretty sticked in my willing to test this appealing SVN version. undecided

      I’m hosted on a Ubuntu / Apache2 / Php5 (memory_limit:128MB) / Mysql5 server of which I have direct management from root account through SSH.
I directly ’checkout’ http://svn.modxcms.com/svn/tattoo/tattoo/branches/0.9.7 to my server, obtaining the 0.9.7 folder with everything required into it.
I copied the file "build.config.sample.php" to "build.config.php" and setted my mysql setting (the database I already used for my previous Modx trials, emptied).

I executed "php transport.core.php" in _build/ (through CLI) and it properly ended.
I checked and had "core/packages/core.transport.zip" and "core/packages/core/" containing manifest.php and the other files/directories.

      I have chmod 777 "setup/templates/_compiled" , "/0.9.7" (my "[root]") , "/manager", "/connectors", "/core/packages", "/core/cache" and "/core/export".
Finally I had done "cp /core/config/config.inc.tpl /core/config/config.inc.php" and chmod it 777.

Then I checked through ftp(filezilla) that all the permissions where as they were supposed to be : everything is OK.
I so went to "http://www.myserver.com/0.9.7/setup" and.... "Yes !" got the installation interface.

So why the hell do I annoy you grin ? Here it finally come :
      - choose language > "English" selected > press "Select" >> OK
      - Welcome to the MODx installation program > press "Next" >> OK
      - MODx License Agreement. > Read > Tick "I agree the terms set out in this license." > press Next >> Blank Page :’(.

I repeated all that a second time for the same result.
      Having checked my

Has anyone faced a similar issue? I can’t get to the options page !

Hoping you could help me, I wish you a good night. wink

The most likely cause of your problems is a bad download. The MODx package is big enough that it’s not that uncommon for one of more files to be corrupted during the download. Give it another try.

Another possibility is having PHP configured with PDO but without the mysql extension for PDO enabled.

Thanks BobRay since it motifated me to restart all from the beginning again and ... it worked this time ! wink
Thanks alsso OpenGeek for your idea, which I confess could have been true, as I didn’t checked this detail. rolleyes

I have now to get into it, build from scratch and test it all !
            Just a quick one :
Now that I got it up, whenever I checkout to update the files, should I go again throught the all chain (i.e transport.core.php and all the setup to update?
As it will be 0.9.7 version updating 0.9.7, will it properly update itself.

            Thanks again !

The SVN snapshots often do require rebuilding the core package after an SVN update is performed, but we generally try to note this in the commit messages which you can track at http://svn.modxcms.com/crucible/changelog/modx/branches/revolution
[NOTE: The URL changed here in conjunction with announcement of the Revolution product branch]

Once we complete the alpha and beta cycles, we will have more formal approaches to "deploying" MODx via SVN vs. "developing" MODx via SVN. I’m actually managing an environment that uses a centralized core/ directory sitting outside my web document root with an SVN checkout, though I am only using this to manage the core; the setup takes care of the rest, which I SVN export to a web directory (and customize the values in setup/includes/config.core.php) where I want to install a new site. There will be changes/additions to setup coming as well, that will allow you to more easily deploy specific multi-site and other complex configurations that are now possible with the new architecture.

Why I’ve been forwarding from the page about downloading alpha 0.9.7

                  http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/MODx097/2008/04/28/0.9.7-Alpha+Release+Announcement

                  to this page

                  http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/login.action?os_destination=%2Fdisplay%2FMODx097%2F2008%2F04%2F28%2F0.9.7-Alpha%2BRelease%2BAnnouncement

                  This is strange...

I think its better the address to be changes with this one:

                  http://wtf.modxcms.com/downloads/?relPath=core

Because that is not the correct URL. The correct new docs are:

                    http://svn.modxcms.com/docs/display/revolution/

Since 0.9.7 has been rebranded as MODx Revolution 2.0.0

                      :o

i just checked out the 079 alpha and i’m really thrilled. the improved look and feel is so delicious! thumbs up, great work!

sadly i couldn’t find any option for multi-language sites. is this a planed feature for 097 final release or am i missing something?

and again, thanks for making this awesome piece of software!

Sorry to dig up an old thread.

I was wondering whether someone could give me some details regarding Revolution’s multi-lingual functionality?

                      Many thanks! laugh
