Self-providing of a Package via PM

Thanks Bob, I will read your stuff during the weekend, but I am not making an Add-on or Extra
just packaging the stuff I want to use in all my websites.

I got rid of phpthumboutputfilter, it seems that its package causes problems, and everything
worked OK.

The only thing that is missing is that the packages do not appear in the Package Management grid.
It is more than that, I can go to the Package Manager and download one of the packages and it
appears in the grid as not installed (from modxcms.com provider). I do not want to click on
install because I do not know what this would do....

Another thing that is not working is that all my directory files were transferred perfectly, but
the /mytemplates directory was added in the middle. This would not be a problem, as I can just
move everything one directory down, but I can’t, because it says I do not have permission to move
the files/directories neither I have permission to rename directories? Is this fixable?

MyComponent might still work for you. It provides a lot more options than PackMan. It would allow you to present a series of checkboxes to determine what to install, for example, if that would be useful. You could also use a script resolver to copy the various transport.zip files to the core packages directory (or include them in the package as you do with PackMan).

That happened to me too, but I can’t remember why. I also found that the source and target directories were reversed. I don’t know if that’s still true -- it doesn’t matter if they’re the same.

Yes, I will study your component to see if I can make it work for my specific use...

In the mean time, do you remember how did you solve the problem of not being able
to move files/folders and erase files/folders from the file system?

I cant just leave them there in the client install because they have stuff from
my master website...

also, does anybody knows what happens if I download and install the packages that
PackMan does not show in the grid?


I guess that PackMan is not ready for primetime after all!!!

I don’t think I’ve used PackMan except for packages with no files.
BTW, PackMan has been modified more than once since I tested it, so the problems I mentioned may have been fixed.

OK, no I have the latest version... but it has 17
bugs/features/suggestions in github so I guess it is
close to being spruced up a little in the near future!
