Major slow down...

phpThumb caching defaults are typically very limited. I’ve been bitten by that on occasion.

I used to be on (mt) shared grid and started to get connection errors and massive loading times on PHP.
I had been running EVO for years without a problem. Well, tried a separate MySQL container with no luck.
They blamed MODx EVO and mysql_pconnect...

So I ditched them for site5. Haven’t seen one single
connection error and PHP/MySQL benchmarks up to 79% faster here!

Maybe it’s your host!?

I also am having a major slowdown after moving from Evo to Revo. CPU spikes to 100% when loading a page. Caching is enabled on nearly all snippets. Traffic on this site is quite light with under 300 visitors a day.

I’m running Revo 2.0.6-pl with the following configuration:

Hostgator VPS (this is the only site on this VPS)
Centos 5
Apache 2.2.15
PHP 5.2.9 (with APC enabled)
suEXEC
suPHP
MySQL 5.0.91

table modx_site_content is 33mb

What snippets, particularly the uncached ones?

I also tried APC but then I’ll get errors that the xPDO class not could be loaded, this is only on the 2nd+ requests. And I do not see any speed improvements...

I always try to make the most snippets cachable but sometimes it must be outside the cache (like getPage).. but even when all snippets are cachable the first time a page loads it takes a serval seconds to load the page. After the cache is made it takes about 1-2 seconds.

The latest releases work great with APC and PHP 5.3.3+ at least. There were issues in earlier versions of Revo that could cause errors with APC in certain environments, but AFAIK, those have all been resolved.
