There has to be an error if nothing is happening on that AJAX request. You’re going to have to provide more information and details though if you can’t figure out the problem with the issues described at http://rtfm.modx.com/display/revolution20/Troubleshooting+Installation

Turned out the problem was that PHP needed to be recompiled.
