[Solved] Importing old websites: Why are ä, ü, ö are not shown properly?

When I import an old website by using the tool "Import HTML" the characters ä, ü, ö are not shown properly (just symbolized as "?"). Does anybody know how to solve this problem?

What charset set as in the HTML?

It is now: <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=iso-8859-1" />

Before this I tried UTF-8 and before that I tried no charset.

Do you have any idea?

Not actually used the import HTML tool before, but i’ll try and help. Can you provide the source code which is being rendered once viewed the browser.

In the database it looks like this: "Gem?se geh?rt bei vielen Gerichten zu den beliebtesten..." instead of "Gemüse gehört bei vielen Gerichten zu den beliebtesten..."

Therefore it seems like a problem of importing itself?

Yeah does look like there was a prob on the import. Sorry can really help with this then as not used the import HMTL. I thought at first it may of just been charset problem.

I do not know if you are working locally or on host.

I had problem with Revo creating Database when created by Revo collation on my host, was not utf8_general_ci but latin1_swedish_ci.

I do not know if this could be your problem.
I also have no knowledge import Tool. Is this the Import HTML Tool in Revo Manager?

Yes, it is one of two built-in possibilities of Revo ("Import HTML" and "Import Resources")...

I think utf8_general_ci in general but others may know better I’m new to this.

Ok, I now changed my database to "utf8_general_ci".

Do you know if I have to make these change somewhere in the core, too? I think while installation I had to enter the charset of the database...
