Cannot Create Categories and Problem With Categories with Package Installs

Hello,

When a right-click the Categories icon in the Elements Tab and select New Category, I input a Category Name and save it. MODx indicates it is saving it but the category doesn’t appear to be created (it’s not in the Element tree and is not selectable in any category drop down menus).

Probably related to that is on some package installs I get a series of category errors:

Assuming that you haven’t messed with permissions, it sounds like a corrupted file in the install.

I reinstalled and no, haven’t played around with permissions. Install said everything was good but I realize some things get missed. I still can’t create a category. It’s almost as if for that particular task, in the database, there is no permission, but I can create snippets, chunks, resources. I frankly quite baffled.

Looks as though you’ve installed Gallery, try removing this(force remove option) and see if you can create categories now.

Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

I would also run a check on the database via phpMyAdmin or some other tool (even Cpanel offers them) to make sure your table is in a good condition and not corrupted.

Yes, redownloaded. Erased everything, emptied the DB. The error seems to be that modx_access_category table doesn’t exist. Can I create this manually? Sure enough it doesn’t show up in phpMyAdmin. Still getting this:

This seems to be something the modxss package needs, looking at my revo db there is no modAccessCategory table, so its not needed out of the box, can you create categories before you install this package?

Use MODx, or the cat gets it!

No. I can’t. First thing I tried on the fresh install. I think I’ll blow away the DB completely and the testing sub domain and start from scratch. Moved to Evo in the mean time for the actual project.
