An error occurred while connecting to the Provider

Shall I add this to the JIRA database of issues?

I’ve ended up falling back to Evo... can’t get this part working, which would have been one of the benefits to switching over to Rev

It’s likely some kind of restriction from your hosting provider, or cURL isn’t properly enabled.

That really doesn’t help

The hosting provider is actually quite good. I’ve contacted them to see if they can help with anything, but there are no issues or errors in the log. cURL seems to be working fine. I’m using several other CMS’es without any issues.

Is there any way I can systematically go through a check list to see what is going on?

This is really a big shame.

I’ve been get the same error on a local installation of MODx when I’m at work. Does Package Management use a port besides 80 or 443? My work network has become quite restrictive lately.

There is a chance that the web host has firewall rules that prohibit scripts from remotely accessing resources outside of the hosted domain. At least that’s what the problem sounds like to me.

Fresh install on a local mamp server.
Same problem... can’t connect to provider http://rest.modxcms.com/extras/

curl is enabled, and being on a local server I’d assume we can exclude firewall/port/proxy problems I guess...

Any idea? I was oh.so.ready to start but I already hit a bump at the very first step

Sounds like cURL is not configured correctly, because it works fine on MAMP for me.

Does that make sense to anyone... in terms of an incorrect config?

If you have cURL enabled and confirmed working already, then I am not sure what the problem could be. Anyone else have any thoughts on possible problems here?

I didn’t figure it out... it’s a plain fresh install.
Anyway I discovered that I can download and "manually" add extension so it’s fine for me at the moment.
Not a solution but a workaround at least!
