An error occurred while connecting to the Provider

Slowly, but surely getting 2.0 to work.. but now I’ve hit another stumbling block.

When I go to Package Retriever to download extras/add a new package, I get this message:

An error occurred while connecting to the Provider: MODx received a blank response from the provider. Please double check your service URL and make sure the provider is a valid provider.
----

The only provider I have is the default one: http://rest.modxcms.com/extras/

My server configuration:

MODx version: MODx Revolution 2.0.0-pl
Server: Apache 2.2.11 (Unix)
MySQL: 5.0.90
PHP Version: 5.2.13

I could list all the PHP settings, which I suspect may be where the problem lies... but it would be overkill listing them all here.

Any clue what might be wrong with my set up?

You have to enable cURL ...

Yep.. I saw that topic... but curl is enabled:

cURL support: enabled
cURL Information: libcurl/7.18.2 OpenSSL/0.9.8g zlib/1.2.3.3 libidn/1.8 libssh2/0.18

Are you clicking on the "Download Extras" button?

What browser (and have you tried another)?

The same dialogue box and message appears regardless of whether I click on the "Add New Package" or "Download Extras" button.

I’m using Mozilla Firefox 3.6.8 (Mac OS X)

Just tried using Google Chrome 5 and Safari 5 with the same results.

I’m not having much fun here with 2.0

Is it worth me posting the entire PHP config?

Sorry for your trouble. The only things I can think of are a misconfigured cURL or a corrupted file in the install. Maybe someone else will have a better idea.

Yeah I’ve tried re-installing from scratch on the same sever... and tempted to do it again in case I was just unlucky twice over.

Would be nice to figure out what is wrong though.

Re-installed everything from scratch and still have the same problem.

Should this be logged in JIRA?
