Package Management not working with MAMP?

I am very new to Revolution...

I develop sites locally using MAMP on my Mac. I had to upgrade to MAMP 1.9 to obtain the newer version of PHP to get the Rev 2.0 install to work.

I got everything running but the Package Management system does not seem to work? I tried downloading a couple of trial packages and they are now inside the core/packages folder. But following the Package Retriever system does connect with any of the packages?

Any clues here?

Make sure cURL is enabled in your MAMP installation.

A phpinfo() display should show a configuration with this

’--with-curl=/Applications/MAMP/Library’

PHP supports libcurl, a library created by Daniel Stenberg, that allows you to connect and communicate to many different types of servers with many different types of protocols. libcurl currently supports the http, https, ftp, gopher, telnet, dict, file, and ldap protocols. libcurl also supports HTTPS certificates, HTTP POST, HTTP PUT, FTP uploading (this can also be done with PHP’s ftp extension), HTTP form based upload, proxies, cookies, and user+password authentication.

In other words, it lets you fetch files using just about any file transfer protocol.

I added a phpinfo() file into the htdocs folder inside the applications/mamp folder on my Mac.

I get the following under the "Configure Command" bOX

You can access a phpinfo() display in Reports -> System Info.

And you can see that it does in fact have curl support enabled.

I see you are working with Revolution now and I know you do a lot of work with photo sites/gallery type of sites.
I would be interested in your opinions on gallery for revo and/or other solutions for setting up galleries.
Maxigallery, as you know, is an amazing tool for Evo that doesn’t exist (yet) for Revo.
What are you thoughts, if you have started delving into that yet?

I guess its back to my original question.

If you download a package it goes in the core/packages folder and not the core/packages/core folder? When I click on the Add New Package and select Search Locally for Packages and click "YES" nothing happens...

That as they say is a "big bridge" I have yet to come to.

Quite a while back I tried one of the beta versions of Revo and I really did not connect with it. Now that Revolution is "prime time" I thought I would take another look at it. While the interface is shiny and new much that I am currently used to seems different and unsettling. I guess I need time. But the first thing I tried, the Package Manager, is not working on my MAMP install?

I will soon be developing a major site for a world health (alternative medicine) organization that places acupuncture doctors in relief missions in remote (poor) parts of world. This will be a major project. I am doing this for free as the organization is non-profit.

I am selling them on MODx and I know the whole Revo vs Evo question will come up. I am comfortable adding javascript gallery systems to MODx but the MaxiGallery uploader within MODx is so useful. If using multiple user galleries inside Revo is a problem then "that is a problem." I would then definitely use the latest version of Evo and call it good.

Well, good luck with the MAMP issues you have. I am not that savy to troubleshoot something like that.
I hope you get it running and get to explore Revo and particularly the Gallery package.

Your input would be useful to those developing specifically image galleries for revo.
I have a live install on one of my servers and am hoping to get some time to get into it soon.
