revo 2.0 pl install hanging at 'Create or test selection of your database' point

Hi

I’m having a problem with a revo 2.0 pl install hanging at the ’Create or test selection of your database’ point.

After passing the ’Connecting to mysql server’ point i click ’Create or test ...’ to check the selection of an already created db and there is not reaction at all - no error, no ’it’s wrong’, no nothing. I’ve tried it in various browsers but the same each time.

I’m on an apache server hosted by http://www.tsohost.co.uk/ (who incidentally are brilliant) running mysql 5.0.91-community and PHP 5.2.13. Previous EVO installs run fine on this server.

Can anyone advise please?

Having the same issue over here on a Win2003 server, IIS6, PHP 5.2.13, MySQL 5.1.48.
Evo installs and runs fine (using MySQLi), Revo installation (using PDO) stops after succesfully checking the MySQL connection. No character set or collation can be selected in the drop down lists during setup.

Could you both create a phpinfo(); page and check the results and let me know what version your MySQL Client is.

Secondly, this sounds like you don’t have PDO correctly configured.

First of all, Thanks for the prompt replies! This is exactly why I expect MODx to be the top CMS system of the next years.

About my installation issue:
I checked the PDO settings using the code published on the Troubleshooting Installation page. No error message occurs when I fill in the right credentials. So I assume PDO is setup correctly.

Configuration used:
OS: Windows Server 2003
Webserver: IIS6
MODx release: 2.0.0-pl (Fresh Install)
PHP: 5.2.13
MySQL: Community Server 5.1.48 Essentials
MySQL Client API version: 5.0.51a
Browser: IE8

I tried to install MODx 1.0.4 which ran fine on this same machine (but doesn’t use PDO for MySQL connectivity???)

Thanks for posting the info, the problem is that PHP is using libmysql.dll from the php folder and this is version 5.0.51 which MODx does not like.

Could you try and rename this dll then issue a dos command IISRESET.

All being well PHP should fire up and when you run phpinfo the client API Version will be higher as it will include the dll from the MySQL Folder.

If this does not work the only solution I have found so far is to upgrade PHP to a higher version.

Hi, thanks for the replies and apologies for not getting back before now.

The server is running:
Database Version: 5.0.91-community
PHP Version: 5.2.13
I’m using firefox 3.6.8 for install.

Aaron, as this is a newer version of php would this be causing the same hang as with BusyFlash?

splittingred, re the PDO config, when i hit the ’Create or test selection of your database’ stage I’m getting no pdo errors, just no reaction at all.

On one of my servers I faced the exact same problems, PHP was a later version and also MySQL was higher however when I created a phpinfo(); page and looked at the MySQL Client API it reported the API Version was 5.0.51 which does not work with MODx Revolution.

Could you check this and let us know what you find?

I’m getting MySQL version 5.0.91-community from 3 seperate places:
- from within an existing Evo 1.0.4 install in the system info page
- from the phpinfo page i posted
- from within the hosting account cPanel settings

I could open a support ticket and enquire further but i have a feeling they’ll tell me the same - should i go ahead with that anyway?

Are you able to create a phpinfo(); page for me to see? perhaps send the link via private message?

Some users have said that when they look in the html source of the database connection page you can some times see errors.
