"Create or test selection of your database" no response

I am also stuck on this step.
Create or test selection of your database.
Checking database:MODx could not create your database. Please manually create your database and then try again.

The username_modx database appears to be there.

•PHP memory_limit: php.ini memory_limit = 128M, max_execution_time = 120
MySQL environment:
•MySQL version 5.0.89
•SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE, ALTER, INDEX, DROP, CREATE TEMPORARY TABLES: yes
•CREATE DATABASE done in Cpanel or phpMyAdmin
•InnoDB storage engine Yes
•MyISAM storage engine Yes

1.Make sure the directories "/[root]", "/core/packages","/core/cache", and "/core/export" are writable

2.Make sure "/manager", "/connectors" are writable
Yes 755
4.Create a blank file "/core/config/config.inc.php" and make it writable

php.ini contains pdo_mysql.default_socket=/var/run/mysqld/mysqld.sock

Should I try Evolution instead?

Never mind, got it working.
Apparantly posting in the forum causes you to solve the problem soon after.
Not sure what fixed it:
copied the php.ini file to public_html
tried to create a dummy table in the database.

In the modx setup page after I got the error message I was clicking on Create or test selection of your database.
But then I tried clicking on
Test database server connection and view collations
and then clicked on
Create or test selection of your database.
and now I have the prompt for admin info.

Same problem.. I had two database user1234_modx and user1234_modxrevo. Problem was solved when i changed my database to user1234_modx ...? So user1234_modxrevo is not a good name for database

Sometimes shared hosts will clip the number of characters allowed for a database name... maybe you were running into that.
