One more thing about htaccess which probably don’t have any relationship with this particular case but rather with default MODx functionality..

If faulty domain.com/idnex.php page is asked for, instead of serving domain.com/error/ (ID3 resource set in Revo settings), domain.com/idnex.php URL remains in address bar but content of predefined error page (domain.com/error/) shows..

is there a possibility to redirect to domain.com/error/ rather than showing its content only?

I’m not sure if that’s possible, purpler, but if you’re redirecting a non-existent resource to another one, you’re not telling Google that the resource no longer exists, you’re telling it that it’s moved. Even though the current behavior keeps shows the error document in the non-existent URL, it is still serving the 404 header tag, so the URL isn’t in danger of being indexed.
I’m not saying there isn’t a use case for what you want to do but that’s my $0.02.
