    Hi People,

    Just a quick question currently i use Joomla and its pretty cool.

    What i was wondering is that with Joomla you cant really customize it using CSS but will ModX allow you to use pure CSS customization.

    Also i could not find any e-commerce modules that will allow to create a online sales website something which is pretty important for the types of web design i carry out, is there anything like this for ModX?

    And finally can the back-end aka the admin panel be customized and also limited in a manner so that additional users can use the back-end but do not have full access to all the functionality?

    I hope you can answer these question as i like the ModX concept its nice but as i am currently using Joomla i would like to ensure that i can still carry out my crucial functions in ModX.

    Thanks

    M

      Yes, yes and yes.

      MODx works with very basic HTML templates, so css and javascript is handled exactly as if it were just flat HTML pages.

      Revo and Evo work pretty much the same in this regard; just the manager interface is a little different.

              Ok Cool ahmm so how can i add e commerce modules to my ModX and also i a assuming that the template customisations are per page and donot take effect to every page except if i set it this way?

              Also i am assuming moo tools and jquery can be embedded?

              Regards

              M

                Thank you. I’d like to know what is the Link Attributes field on Document form (with a tip "Attributes for the link for this resource, such as target= or rel=.")? And how can I use the field?

                  On CSS, and further to above good queries, does the MODx system accept the current fashionable (?) multi-nested <div>s for layout control? My Dreamweaver version 8 doesn’t! >:(

                  For example, if I wanted to create three equal length columns, would the following skeleton CSS code be accepted?

                  <div id="colmask"> = Outer wrapper for all content (3 columns)
                  <div id="colmid">
                  <div id="colright">

                  <div id="col1wrap">
                  <div id="col1pad">

                  <div id="col1">
                  <!-- Col1 = Centre Main Content Column -->
                  </div>

                  </div> <!-- Col1pad end -->
                  </div> <!-- Col1wrap end -->

                  <div id="col2">
                  <!-- col2 = Left-Hand-Side Column -->
                  </div>

                  <div id="col3">
                  <!-- Col3 = Right-Hand-Side Column -->
                  </div>

                  </div> <!-- end Colright -->
                  </div> <!-- end Colmid -->
                  </div> <!-- end Colmask -->

                  Hope that makes sense. Assume this code is simple enough for seasoned CSS’ers to interpret.

                    The CSS you use to display your templates is entirely up to you and not limited by Modx in any way. You can either treat it as an external file, as a static resource, or even edit within the system (but then you don’t have the syntax highlighting or other helper tools that you’d get in your usual editor).

                    I’m a MODx novice, but I actually find the modular/structural approach that the system encourages (through templates and chunks) has improved my CSS coding as well, as the workflow lends itself to getting the CSS right first, and then you’re basically creating and populating placeholders.

                      Thanks. I am a MODx novice too, and have experienced the same encouragement from MODx to tidy up coding even more. The needed discipline is very good and productive.

                      Enjoying the MODx learning so much it is delaying porting of site. Been under construction a few days too long and need to get done. My CSS query was thinking ahead a couple of days and wondering if I was heading for a problem. Not so... Truly a great CMS for us CSS/HTML freaks. Thanks again.
