Questions about updated forum

Hello,

Couple questions / observations about the forum after update:

1. Small css glitch, the forum breadcrumb links (MODx Community Forums » Project Team » Blue Sky » Start new topic) are not under main links anymore
2. MaxiGallery sub forum link is not visible at main forum under "Images, Videos & Podcasts", but it is still under there if you go inside "Images, Videos & Podcasts" forum. Don’t know if there’s same thing in some other forums / subforums.
3. Why the forum sections, like "General Discussions", "Project Team", "Commercial Support" etc. are now in different order than what they were before?

Thanks Doze. SMF 1.1.7 has some new stuff rolled in and the upgrade was a royal pain. I’m sure some things will be sorted out over the coming days.

I’m seeing this as it used to be (or close thereto) in Saf and Fx on OS X. Can you show me a screenshot?

Attached a screenshot with Firefox 3.0.4 on WinXP.

Is the CSS by chance cached? This was happening on this end too until I updated the CSS late in the day on Sunday.

I was seeing the same thing and the css was cached for me; a quick CTRL-SHIFT-R in Fx solved it just now...

Well that doesn’t make much sense; this could be an issue related to the re-ordering maybe?

Part of the upgrade was a routine to resort the tables by the primary key indices. The natural order of the records in the database is physically re-ordered by this process. I’m not aware of how the SMF theme decides the order of these things, but we can investigate and solve it easily (I hope).

Yeah, I’m almost certain that’s it.. Can’t test it now, it was on my work comp, but here at home it’s all good.. and I don’t clear the cache at my work comp very often.. Sorry for the bogus bug report

But then... another observation; these "Show unread posts since last visit." and "Show new replies to your posts." links at the top have different color than before.. now they are gray, so not so nice to read. Previously they were bold dark blue, i think.

Also another thing, this isn’t really an issue, but when using "preview" post feature, the colors are somehow odd in there too.. not bad.. just different than what they were before

I know that these are very small things.. and I don’t expect you to use your time on these really (except the old sorting of forums would be nice to get back), when the theming for the new marketing site / forum is in the horizon etc..

EDIT: also, are the page numbers (+ go up / go down links) lighter gray than what they were before, or am I going crazy here.. they seem hard to read too.

EDIT2: also the background of "Recent Topics", "Forum Stats" and "Users Online" are missing at the bottom of the main forum..

EDIT3: When clicking "Show new replies to your posts." the bottom bar that shows what various icons means (Topic you have posted in, Normal Topic etc.) has the background image a little off and I think the text color wasn’t that white before?

Doze, Forum Board Categories should be ok now, please test at your side.

Other issues you mentioned needs some deeper look, I’ll try to fix them sooner

Yes, I can confirm that the board order looks good now and sub forums are visible. Thanks!

Just to continue this little bit.. The styling issues are still valid that is on my post above, but here’s one new problem with the subforums..



When you look for example the Finnish sub forum at the top level, the posts and topics count is wrong and the "last post" column is also not updated. This happened when the forum was updated.

Here’s a picture inside the Finnish sub forum and you can see that the "last post" column does not have any content on few rows.. the posts and topics count is ok in this level though:



I know that styling will change in the forums at some point, so those previous things are not a big issue, but this maybe needs someone’s attention to look at it..
