modxcms.tv, video tutorial site for modx.. need help

Any objections to a Vimeo channel ... we’ve got one started there?

Yesterday we talked about modxcms.tv on twitter too

ronaldlokers mentionned Vimeo something like 3 weeks ago and I agree it’s a great platform, I have seen more an more sites using it (there already are two modx videos here : http://www.vimeo.com/videos/search:modx)

And by the way modx discussions on twitter are really becoming something, we definetely have a nice space here

Yeah, modx discussions on Twitter are great! Many people on twitter never heard of modx, but I have pushed much people to try modx and they are all happy!!

About the videos; I think Vimeo offers the best quality videos, but I also want to have YouTube on the site. Because there are some videos on YouTube too! Are there people that are creating videos about google in here? I can’t make it myself because I don’t have the time for it

I think the best way to get this site up is to use a standard installation and make a simple blog like site with the standard template. Then we only need to get snippets to include the video’s. I could post the login details of the ftp account so people can help. And I will add manager accounts for people that want to help to add posts!

I will be making some camtasia videos soon so could help contribute.

I’ve not seen Vimeo before but was really impressed this morning watching Shaun’s video full screen.

Perhaps the site needs to follow the WP idea by having offical MODx videos on Vimeo then user contributed videos via youtube?

Re twitter I’ve been watching MODx tweets for a few days now and it seems to be a great source for getting new MODx users and a lot of us have been praising MODx to the new users which helps aswell.

Go for creating your own videos. As far as I know the official MODx CMS screencasts will be centred around Vimeo due to its high quality and easy uploader.

One more thing.

I am personally torn about YouTube as it is the 2nd most used search engine after Google. If there was a way to force the HQ videos but if we were strictly on a traffic building mission YouTube is the cats meow.

We could upload the videos to both sites! For quality we really have to use Vimeo, it’s simply the best I know.

Well... basicly we have to collect links to the movies that are already out there on youtube and vimeo. After that I will have to create list with ditto and make a document for every video. Does someone recommend a snippet to embed the videos easily?

I think it doesn’t need to have categories, that will be on the new marketing site I think. This site just needs to be basic because it will link to the original site when the new site is launched!

I think I saw few snippets in the repo, please look for the advMedia or something similar, I think that was very impressive implemention with the TVs
