But you are right. Coroico is a small city, located in the "yungas", the tropical valleys, not far away from La Paz, Bolivia.
I choose this surname simply because I keep good memories of this village and the name sounds funny. In 1996, we reached this village by an amazing road named "road of the death" where truck drivers, when going downhill, stop theirs motors in the turns to listen if an another truck is climbing up or not. And where, unfortunately lot of trucks fall over in the precipice. From La Paz to Coroico, the variation in level is about of 2500 meters in less than 100 kilometers and the road a bad track with a single traffic lane.
And Sottwell, I remenber that we met lot of your fellow countrymen who did also a trip in this part of South America. But perhaps you know also coroico ...

My user name doze (note: all lower case!! ) comes from my old nick from ten...fifteen years back what was first "overdoze". The overdoze nickname came from my friends because at times I was very hyperactive when I was younger, like i was on speed or something. But later I got bored writing it and shortened it to just doze, what also suits me now because one of my hobbies is to sleep long and doze through the day when I have free days and feel like relaxing.. Not much of a stories but that’s where my user name comes from.

My handle netProphET is not hard to figure out because I am the Prophet of the Internet. Yeah, and I’m an Extra Terrestrial... and as you probably guessed, I’m all about the $$$.

There’s really no history - I just came up with it as I was signing up for an account here as a MODx noob, it’s the first place I’ve used it. It’s rather silly, but what the heck. I liked the double meaning and the fact that it seemed simultaneously cool and ridiculous, so in that way it is a bit of a reflection of me ;-)

My name Dimmy is what they calle me here exualy they have called me Dummy for a long time, that came from the dummyload dummy antenna for cb radio.

But Dummy is not really a nice word so I made it to Dimmy what makes more sense anyway. I had lost of other names like Dim-X (in my FXP time) and Dexx in high school.

I wish I had a better story.

My real first name is Robin but I’ve never liked it, so when I first got on the internet I started using Bob and the beginning of my last name. I got involved in a number of usenet groups, the main one being a bunch of cigar smokers. Eventually, the cigar guys started meeting up in various cities to smoke cigars together and so many people assumed that Bob Ray was my full name that it became easier to become Bob Ray than to straighten them out.

Bob Ray now has a web site, business cards and credit cards, a checking account, and a whole life of his own. These days, I’m him a lot more often than I am that other guy and, in April, he’s attending another cigar event in New Orleans. There’s a good chance that the other guy will, at some point, barely exist any more.

No great story about the history of my name, but I went through a couple aliases before arriving at the all-to-common one of sirlancelot...

When I was really young (we’re talking like, 8-12 years old), I picked the alias Ice. I kept it for a while until I grew older and found out that Ice refers to a certain drug and didn’t want to be related to that in any way! I later adopted the name Fusion because of the variety of groups of people I could fit into, the geek crowd, the "cool" crowd; I called myself a fusion of personalities

I went through some various spellings and styles of the alias (NeoFusion, Fiuze, SilentFiuze) before I got tired of it and decided to move on because I had used so many variations on the alias I forgot what I had used for each website!

I finally arrived at the alias ’sirlancelot’ for a couple reasons: while it is still fairly common around the net, I still got pretty lucky with its availability on most of the sites I visited. GMail was the first place I used it; back when It was invite-only beta status (meaning very few users). The second reason is because it’s just fun to type out on the keyboard! Finally, it’s really simple to spell out in writing or speaking, there’s very little (or almost no) variation in how it can be spelled so when I say "sirlancelot" to someone they know how it is spelled. This is not true of the alias ’Fusion’ as I showed above.

I will always type it in lowercase letters because I’m a linux user and am deathly afraid of capital letters on my filesystem

Though opengeek is my handle here, and not very mysterious or exciting as others have alluded to, my other handle is a little more interesting: drumshamen. However, it had the same problem sirlancelot’s previous handles had; is it drumshamen or drumshaman, and does the e variation make it plural. Anyway, long story short, I’ve been fascinated with and studying shamanism most of my adult life, and have been a drummer since the age of about 12.

Bah, nm, that’s no more exciting or mysterious than me being into Open Source and a bit of a geek... Nothing to see here; next?!
