Beta testing of new Ajax File Manager

Ok...I’m testing out a new Ajax File Manager to replace our current file manager. Attached is the file manager and modified versions of the latest stable TinyMCE and FCKEditor plugins. Just drop the file manager files in the plugins directory and then install TinyMCE and FCKEditor one at a time. After that you should be able to login and use it right away. The Ajax File Manager is configured so that it defaults to the assets directory and has filters applied so that only the images, flash, media, and files directories are shown initially. New directories can be created pretty much anywhere.

I figured that this solution would be adequate and provide a quick path to having something that is fairly current, will be easy to manage and update, and will get us out of the hell hole of the MCPUK file manager. Once we’ve got it in place I’ll start working on a solution that is based on Ext.

Let me know what you guys think. I’ll be testing it and doing further configuration to it and will be posting stuff to the SVN soon.

This is great news Jeff, just downloaded it and will give this a try ASAP and report !
At last we will get rid of this awful MCPUK thing which has not been up to par to the rest of MODx by any stretch...

Just as an FYI, this has already been done in 097. It’s called MODx.Browser. Feel free to work on it though - there’s still work that needs to be done.

Definitely will take a look. However, since the release of 097 might be a little ways off, I felt that a quick release of a MCPUK alternative was in dire need.

Definitely - great work. I’d really appreciate your help on the 097 Browser whenever you get through - there’s tons of work left to do.

Great! Once I installed it correctly (duh...) it worked beautifully.

I know the instructions were "Just drop the file manager files in the plugins directory" but there must be something I am missing here : it doesn’t work it’s still the old mcpuk I get

Since there is no installer for the file manager, there should be a file containing the plugin (is it ajaxfilemanager.php ?) and which events do I tick (OnFileManagerUpload ?) ? Or does it use an include rather than a plugin stored in the DB ?

I only installed TinyMCE and not FCK, could that be the source of my problems ?
My reasonning was the new file manager is not tied to the editor but is it the case ?

I simply copied the ajaxfilemanager folder and the tinymce213 folder to my assets/plugins folder, and the install folder to my root, then ran the install index.php file from the browser address bar. Works just fine; the installer replaced the tinymce212 with the 213 version.

It’s what I did but it doesn’t work on my end... probably server config related, I’ll check that out !

Edit : OK I see where I missed something !
It works.

Only I expected the ajax file manager to load when I have an image or file TV and it does not, but it does work perfect when I use TinyMCE or FCK (great !). How could that be solved ?

PS : I’ll be posting the french lang file monday
