sorry if already metion, but i’d be great to have a checkbox to tell if the version has know problems, so people wont install it if then want the snippet/whatever for a production site.

Hi eemi,

The version field can be used to flag development versions, for example to mark a release as a ’alpha’ or ’beta’ version that has been added but should only be used for testing.

OK Wow. I’ve been out of it a while and now there’s 12 pages to this topic and I just don’t have time to read them all to see which of my issues has been covered and how. But I thought I’d share my experience. And then promise I’ll try to keep up in the future! laugh

OK, I saw the giant list of sniippets that hadn’t been moved from the forum to the slick new repository. I myself had only done one of several that could be done so I set out to do Breadcrumbs- which I "thought" I had already done.

Turns out I had already done it. But tillda had updated it. So in his version, it showed mine as a "Previous Version." Well that was a little odd coming from a background where only I could supercede my work, but whatever. Different isn’t necessarily bad.

Oddly tho- I used the "tag cloud" [against my will] as it seemed to be the ONLY way to categorically look at the snippets, it showed both versions in the list. This can cause confusion I thought.

So I went to tillda’s "updated" version and chose the add new version option.

Long story short- now Breadcrumbs is listed 3 times! All three versions are listed. And in my latest version, it doesn’t show the tillda version as being a previous version. In fact, it shows both my original version AND the one I just added as previous versions in the tillda version... what’s going on?

Yes, the "visit author’s site" and "Support Thread in forums" links are only visible at the specific resource page not in the "lobby". Just noticed the same thing today..

BTW, I’m not trying to sound cruel, but how hard is it to edit the css of repository pages? The font is STILL different in lobby what it is in resource specific page. It’s pretty annoying when you first make sure that layouts are correctly when posting the resource and after multiple edit’s you notice that the font size is competely different in resource mainpage and linebreaks are in wrong places etc..

BTW, I’m not trying to sound cruel, but how hard is it to edit the css of repository pages?

Not difficult at all but there are things that Kyle and myself are busy with aside from updating the repository wink

I will be making some updates over the weekend and will try and have a look at the CSS at the same time.

Please bear in mind that suggestions for changes are being taken on board but may not be done immediately.

Oh, it was at the top of that page.. Didn’t notice that. hmm, is that good thin when thinking usability of the repo, that the links are in different places?

Yes, I know you guys are busy.. I thought zi was doing the css changes. (Not saying that zi wouldn’t be busy also!! grin

) And really, I appreciate all you have done and not trying to be an asshole. Just that I’ve posted 3 times allready about it (first time over two weeks ago) and sent pm to zi lol.. and it’s not like it’s a feature request, it’s just a plain bug.. But enough with the wining, I’ll shut up now, Thanks for fixing it when ever you have time!

Nothing against Mark but why is Ditto 1.0.1 and Ditto 1.0.2 occupying the top 2 spots for most downloaded? I mean hey, it’s a great thing and all but ... I don’t see why that a version difference should be able to do this. Just imagine Top MP3 players would be:
1.) iPod 1st generation
2.) iPod 2nd generation
3.) iPod 3rd generation
4.) iPod 4th generation
5.) iRiver
ummm, the above is just an example.

There is an A to Z for the repository going on hopefully later today that will provide another way of looking for a resource.

jaredc brought this up slightly, there are no categories. This has been bugging me since I first went to the repository.

This was discussed quite early on where it was decided that tagging would be adopted with a flat structure, categorisation can prove to be a limitation considering the diverse range of resources that are available for MODx and the tagging helps to alleviate this.

We’re open to any ideas that people have about alternative methods to finding a resource

I need to phase in some changes to the snippets to utilise the ’deprecated’ option that is available for resources ... it’s on the list. This should help reduce the problem.

Not yet, there is currently not a full set of resources available in the new repository so the link is being kept pointing to the old one for the time being. Paul is doing an amazing job chasing up the people who haven’t uploaded their resources yet so shouldn’t be for too much longer.

hmmm, I tried looking for that part of the discusion about the categories but no luck however while digging through the thread I thought about what you wrote and considering the way Modx works I tend to agree now with the argument for not having categories.

How about a "related to" type of ability. I’m thinking that when the resource is added that the author fills in the metatags so that the end user might be able to jump to something that "might" relate.

Also, I can’t find where I saw this or what it was called but somewhere on a news based site they had a nifty graphic that showed how the main article was being linked to. Sure it was cool to play with but the visualization ability of this was pretty sweet and so useful I consider it dangerous -- you could lost in it like rummaging around at a garage sale that had all kinds of things that you just had to check out.
