[Snippet] BETA: FileCabinet

Hi Kyle,

Be great to have you on board with this - I’ve had a play with the FileCabinet code and gathered a few ideas and chatted to Guillaume from the forum as he wanted to have an involvement as well. I’ll PM you a summary of the ideas that Guillaume and myself brainstormed, hopefully they’ll be along similar lines as what you have in mind anyway.

Mainly, progress to date has really been just getting ideas together and thinking through various ways of doing things (I decided to take on a few side development jobs to bring in a bit of extra cash and it’s tied me up most evenings for the last week or so)

Do you want a few days to review the code etc. yourself and then we can touch base? Once this is started, I’m pretty certain it won’t take long to crack (it’s just getting that start at the moment ... )

Thanks for the update. I will have some time in the next few days (I should have time tommorow) to review the code and then hopefully generate some additonal ideas on moving forward. So let me know what you have in mind, and we can try to tuoch base later this week.

Well, we’re still in discussion on some of the finer points - there’s a lot to scope out before we start coding anything.

It’s important that we bottom out some of the issues (e.g. user authentication, resource updating and retention), but we are narrowing down on the issues and getting an optimum solution worked out.

We’ll keep you updated

Actually I’ve pointed to http://lussumo.com/addons/ for light weight repo, and to http://extensions.joomla.org/ for full fledge system to inspire from, I hope you guys will come up with some cool stuff!

Is there a more thorough discussion/explanation of this snippet somewhere? I’m experimenting with it and slowly beginning to learn how it works, but if somebody documented it that would be very nice. It appears that it will suit my purposes perfectly (a function/class/library repository for a php user’s group).

Most pressing question: how to separate the file listings into categories.

Found A Bug! The "global $lstitmtpl" statement (line 110) kills the incoming value from the snippet arguments. So I changed the next line,

to

thus changing the argument itself to &listtpl=`blah`. And now setting a new template in the snippet argument works.

lol... fun typos... lol
