MODx websites directory

FDM works, while it has one kink that I know of it is by far more flexible and extensible than News Publisher. I have installed it on at 4 sites and two in combination with MaxiGallery and it works well. For a simple blog interface it offers a nice fill in the blanks method (what I consider a side end--not a back end or front end). Logged in users navigate to the page (or get redirected at logon) and fill out the form and there they go.

For the kink. FDM doesn’t store dates properly for some reason. I don’t think it is using the correct save method for the dates as I think that it becomes part of the array that processes all the fields but I think MODx handles these differently.

I personally think that with that fixed it should replace NP in 0.9.6 but it needs attention. Soda has said that he will not "fix" the existing version as he is working on a new version on xPDO but he is busy putting food on his table. I had worked on it a bit but I am no programmer so my debugging skills are not what they should be. I’d love to see volunteers to tidy this up and get it into 0.9.6.

Cool story and a good testimony for MODx

Back on FDM : deployed it with 140 unskilled webusers and it works A-OK !

No. Only if they distribute their version. And even then only those to whom it’s distributed have to be given access to the code.

For example, if you distribute copies of such a program, whether
gratis or for a fee, you must give the recipients all the rights that
you have. You must make sure that they, too, receive or can get the
source code. And you must show them these terms so they know their
rights.

@doze I think their wording is poor but they have basically used MODx for what it is, a framework. I think what they meant (I’m assuming) that they customized MODx to fit their project.

They’re not offering a competing CMS for general availability; they have built a solution for a client on MODx. Even if they’ve customized the source for application on individual projects I don’t see how that is a problem. If I can’t customize my MODx installs--if I want to do core hacks and a modded installer but prohibited by GPL, I would move on to another application.
