    Here is the PHPInfo: http://rjpalombo.com/info.php

    I’ve tried with MySQL 4.1 and 5 databases.

    I have not touched any security settings or caching.

    I’ve checked the install docs and have been ALL over the net to try and resolve this

    No relevant errors

      First, ensure the core/cache/ directory is writable.
      - Try turning magic_quotes_gpc off
      - Try the PDO script under PDO Error Messages here and see if you have a correct PDO setup
      - Does your system have access to CREATE DATABASE? If not, create the DB manually.

        The database has already been created and the cache folder is writable. I’ll check your two options and reply back.

        Thanks

          Magic quotes are off and I created the script file and ran with no errors. Any other help?

          I tried two different hosts as well and now I’m back to godaddy. This has to work...

            I am having exactly the same issues as ’rjpalombo’ down to the smallest detail.

            Would love to be able to test MODx Revolution as I have heard many good things about it, however if it cannot be installed on GoDaddy shared hosting (all of the other competitors, Joomla, Drupal, WordPress, etc have no issues with GoDaddy whatsoever) I can’t use it.

            Please assist!

              I don’t think you’ll ever have luck with free GoDaddy hosting.

              Ever, actually.

                Hey guys! Just to let you know I found an AWESOME free host for modx. Check out 0000free.com. I’m using them for 2 sites and they give you plenty of control smiley

                  Wait... I feel really silly now. I never bothered to check the list of "One-Click Install" applications in the GoDaddy Hosting manager. MODx Revolution is ON the list. D’OH!! Installed automatically in about 5 minutes, works perfectly.

                  Meanwhile I had installed it on another host and fell instantly IN LOVE with MODx (seriously).

                  Will be learning and using MODx like crazy on all kinds of projects. I’m an advanced developer (which is probably why I LOVE this system so much!) so who knows, perhaps I’ll eventually be able to contribute to the system.

                  Thanks!

                    I’m having trouble with GoDaddy Hosting ... its not free. Its paid and some of the details are below.

                    OS/Hosting Type: Linux / 4GH Web Hosting
                    Hosting Configuration: 2.2
                    PHP Version: PHP 5.x

                    It doesn’t go past the DB connection settings ... I get this error

                    Connecting to database server:
                    Could not connect to the existing database for upgrade. Check the connection properties and try again.

                    [2011-05-25 01:15:51] (ERROR in xPDO::connect @ /home/content/xxxxxxx/html/core/xpdo/xpdo.class.php : 344) SQLSTATE[HY000] [2002] Can't connect to local MySQL server through socket '/var/lib/mysql/mysql.sock' (2)

                    Is there a way to specify the socket, something like this?

                    server = xxxxxx.host.com;unix_socket=/tmp/mysql5.sock

                    Any idea about how to put in the DB details?

                    UPDATE:

                    Ran the PDO check that’s in the docs and it returned a blank screen which means that my PDO settings are correct.

                    UPDATE 2:

                    Edited the config file in /core/config and put the correct settings there ... NOW IT WORKS. However please note that I put the same settings during the installation wizard and they didn’t work then.
