    Cool, I’ll definitely check out the plugin and report back my findings once I’ve had a chance to play around with it. thanks again.

      Hey ganeshXL,

      Thought I’d write a quick follow-up. I figured out what was going on with the garbage characters appearing in the Ajax Search results. I’m using a custom instance of TinyMCE on the Add and Edit pages of the site where users contribute their own projects. The problem was occurring because the encoding was set to "named" instead of "raw", check out http://wiki.moxiecode.com/index.php/TinyMCE:Configuration/entity_encoding for details. The fix is addressed in the AjaxSearch wiki at http://wiki.modxcms.com/index.php/AjaxSearch

      From the AjaxSearch wiki...
      "Searching for words containing characters like "å,ä,ö,Å,Ä,Ö" require to configure your editor to avoid entity encoding. With TinyMCE, for that, change the entity_encoding parameter from "named" to "raw" in the configuration tab and save again your documents."

      I set the entity encoding parameter to raw in the tinyMCE when initializing the editor.

      tinyMCE.init({
      	...
      	entity_encoding : "raw"
      });

      Thanks for the help.

        Yep; that’s always one of the very first things I configure after installing MODx - raw like sushi smiley
