Very nice site, Lance.
Congratulation.
If I may give you a hint, you can use [[FirstChildRedirect]] built-in snippet to redirect a container to its first child page.
(I can see it from the Search page’s breadcrumb).
It looks like the site will hold superb quantity of informations.
Did you previously convert it from a different CMS?

MODx is great, but knowing how to use it well makes it perfect!

Very nice and informative site Lance. Good job!

Thanks for the feedback, I really appreciate it.
Goldsky, I will definitely take a look at the [[FirstChildRedirect]] snippet. I knew there had to be a way to display the first document within a container but never got around to pursuing how to do that since I was so busy getting other things going.
Prior to converting to MODx, I was primarily using CMS Made Simple which is a really nice user friendly CMS and a great CMS to enable non-technical folks to manage their content. However, I have been astounded at how well thought out MODx is in every aspect and I love how easy it is to extend the functionality of the CMS. In the past, I have built sites using Mambo, Drupal, and even Etomite when I first began evaluating different CMS’s. With the exception of Etomite, I didn’t really like the general workflow of the systems.
By far MODx has become my clear favorite. I’m hoping to get a little time soon to package up some things I’ve been working on and contribute some snippets back to the community.
Thanks for the wonderful CMS and MODx community.
Well, the horizontal scrolling problem should be fixed. The problem arose after some last minute changes I made to the site templates to better accommodate some Google Adsense ads. The garbage characters appear to be a result of non-printable characters, likely the result of pasting into TinyMCE directly from a Microsoft Word document. I think I’m gonna look into implementing a filter to remove all non-printable characters before saving a document, because I won’t be able to stop users from pasting directly from apps like MS Office. I still plan to take a look at the Content type mismatch. Thanks for the feedback ganeshXL
Also, I’m using the [[FirstChildRedirect]] snippet and it works great. Thanks for the tip goldsky.
hint: there is a special button in tinyMCE for "paste from MS-Word" - you might give that one a try.
ganeshXL, I am aware of the "paste from MS-Word" button in TinyMCE and would use when pasting from MS-Word. However, the content on the web site is added by users in the general public who have created a free account on the site. So unfortunately, I cannot guarantee that all users will actually use the paste from MS-Word function. Since the site is really intended to allow collaboration amongst teachers,I still plan to add an additional validation routine to strip out non-printable characters before saving the document.
Thanks for the suggestion though.
