Just re-launched our website last Thursday. We had been running Joomla for about a year and a half.
    Nice smooth transition to MODx.

The site is working good, great job with the conversion. I am also curious as to any issues replacing Joomla components with MODx add-ons. Also did you do an automated data migration or was it manual? Getting the data fields to pair up with te equivalent in MODx can be a challenge.

Nice looking site, how many pages & documents are published through the modx framework?

The site seems extensive and offers an ideal example of how modx can be used within the public sector.

Please add the site to the modx gallery, it would be a worthy and useful addition wink

The transition was a manual one. The year and a half of Joomla before had created a nightmare of inconsistent pages and categories, so it was a needed cleaning of our entire document structure that the decision was made to manually convert each page.

The modx framework currently holds 300 pages of our main web site. We have a few smaller (10-15 page) satellite sites that will be converted in the next few months as well.

As for modules, I had custom built a module for joomla and then had to re-code it for modx (basically an event calendar module, 1000 events get manually entered into this module every 2 months).
I was using a 3rd party "RunPHP" module to do in-page coding, this was nicely replaced with modx snippets.
And an external formmail script for the 10+ forms on our website, replaced with eform calls.

There have been some small problems to deal with.
Such as eform isn’t nearly as spam proof as our previous formmail script, as soon as we switched the spam flowed like turning a tap on. Also the fact that efom couldn’t add the sender’s name/email address to the from part of the email message was an issue, but I’ve modified it so that now it does.

But other then that the switch over has been great, and now that it is done we are going back and looking at the smaller issues one by one, such as our set of forms and the best way to handle them (eform, spform, external formmail, etc).

Have you considered using Mollom for spam proofing? BobRay prepared a mollom class that could easily be integrated into eForm via an event. http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=33117.0

                  Hi
Im new to this forum, so please inform me, if Im posting on the wrong spot or something.
Im having a site on lunarpages.com:
www.anthroposophieonline.net run with Joomla. It has no extensions and runs with almost pure text. In adition some references to Picasa albums. It contains almost 5000 textpages, where the frontpage has been hit 300 times in 5 months.

                  But:
Lunarpages says I have to pay for a dedicated server because:
                  Top Process %CPU 133 /usr/bin/php /home/anthr7/public_html/index.php Top Process %CPU 112 /usr/bin/php /home/anthr7/public_html/index.php Top Process %CPU 99.1 /usr/bin/php /home/anthr7/public_html/index.php
I just uptimized the mysql-tabels without any results.

                  So here is my question:
Would it be of any help to change to Modx?

Probably, yes. With proper caching of course.
