    Hi,

    you could get the same with tvExplorer

    Here is a sample code

    The chunk form but could be in a file as tvExplorer supprts @FILE command

    <form id="mySearch" action="[~[*id*]~]">
    [+tve.tvPrice:#RANGE{label->Minimum Price:type->select:blanckLabel->showAll:filter->3:elements->@CHUNK priceList||Label->Maximum Price:elements->@CHUNK priceList:filter->4}+]
    [+tve.bedroom:label->Minimum bedroom:filter->3+]
    [+tve.city:elements->@SELECT id,name from myCity_table ORDER BY name ASC+]
    [+tve.postcode:label->Area or Postcode:fullText->true+]
    [+tve.adReference:label->Ad reference:fullText->true+]
    <input type="submit" name="search" value="Search" />
    </form>
    In this example we feed the options list from chunk or db with @BINDINGS or from the tv itself.

    Snippet Call

    [[tvExplorer? &formTPL=`myPropertySearch` &dittoSnippetParameters=`display:10|paginate:1|tpl:propertiesItem|parents:xxx` ]]
    [+tve.searchForm+]
    [+tve.dittoList+]

    If you want to make another form, each one contained in tabs, just add an id param in the call and then prefix the placeholder following the code with the id and ’_’ symbol.

    Hope that helps

    :-)

      Thanks Heliotrope,
      Interesting stuff, it would be nice to use as much "modx stuff" as possible so that I can take advantage of all the cool features that people have already coded...rather than building so much stuff by hand, but I really need to study this TVE stuff and make sure it can meet all our requirements but I´m guessing as long as the field is in the database ditto+TVE can handle it, and then I need to really get to grips with making a module for easy upload of properties. I´ve seen some really good stuff on the forums, mainly from ganesh and scottwell that should get me started.
      What a great online community, really encourages you to keep trying more and more new stuff knowing that people are so keen to help you get it working. I guess everybody is happy to see modx working well, whether on their own pages or not!

        U’re welcome  wink

        A custom solution such as a specific table for properties will be faster than TVE and Ditto since it will require less db queries.
        The Idea behind TVE was to  offer people who have no skills in php coding to make easily advanced search form.
        The code I released is still beta, and is not bug free.
        I’m still working on a stable version but time is missing.

            In that case I guess we´ll carry on with what we´re doing, because this is being built for clients with quite a lot of properties... however I am interested in the idea of using TVE, if I were to set it up how would the estate agent be able to search for a document in order to edit. For example the doc id could be used as a ref no. and they have around 200 properties (so for us this would be a tiny client and perhaps doesnt need the extra field in the database etc.) but it would still be impossible to expect them to search throught the document id´s manually in the back end. Any ideas?
            Cheers

              tvExplorer is an extension to tvEditor Module (which can be found in the indevelopment forum=> http://modxcms.com/forums/index.php?topic=16455.0).
              tvEditor offers searching in the backend based on templates and related tvs.

              @sharkbait
              Most of the params are described in the posts introducing tvEditor and tvExplorer.

                Ok, I´m convinced I need to really take a serious look at this, I recently did a small online catalogue with modx and I´m guessing I´m going to be cursing myself for not using this! Thanks for pointing me in the right direction...
