Thanks for the comment! We are using Slideshow Pro Director (http://slideshowpro.net/) which is awesome because it has a plugin for Flash CS3 which utilizes the "Component Inspector" so you can just simply create an instance of SlideShow Pro and then use the Component Inspector to easily change a variety of options for your slideshow. Then you just export it as an SWF movie file and embed it on your site. It then makes a call to an XML file that is generated from your web based installation of SlideShow Pro. It’s not free, but definitely worth the license fee per site of $30. The flash plugin costs an extra $30, but as a developer, I only had to purchase this once and can use it for each site I create. Take a look at SlideShow Pro’s website for some great demos. I have found it to be an indispensable tool for quickly and easily creating slideshows.

We actually have another client over at http://www.rockiereps.com who utilizes his own SlideShow Pro Director installation to easily add and delete images of new products for the slideshow on his home page.

It would be really cool if there was someway to integrate it into MODx, but for now I’m fine with the way it’s set up.

I started integrating Slide Show Pro with a MODx site quite a while back, using xPDO after I first developed it. SSP is a great product, and the potential for advanced integrations with it and MODx is extremely good. The integrations I have atm consist of generating random thumbnails from the Slide Show Pro database, and automatically adding users into Slide Show Pro Director. Perhaps we should start an official MODx extension for SSP integration, though I want to check with the developers of SSP to make sure everything is kosher.

        Jason, that would be great.
I do a little coding for a designer that uses it extensively for MODx sites, but with little integration I believe.
Would happily contribute my very limited skill set.

Sounds good Jason, wish I could assist you folks more. I really am more an expert in diapers at the moment and spare time seems to vanish in an attempt to create basic websites. Anyway rhetorik, thanks for the info and I will try the SSP because it looks great.

Nice site design. If work is going to be put into SSP, I ask that you consider MonoSlideShow (http://monoslideshow.com/), as well. I purchased both and I’ve found MSS to be a lot more flexible, especially since it doesn’t require Flash to develop or change the slideshow style. It works similar to SSP in that it does refer to an XML file for image calls, and that’s also where the slideshow settings are stored. I’m running it and MODx here: http://teampat.org/slideshows.html

However, I’ve not writing this code, so you are free to do as you wish. I was just throwing my 2 cents in.

We’re not prejudiced here; we like integrating with any and everything we can; I was just offering to polish off the integration I had done to serve as an example of how to accomplish similar integrations using xPDO and MODx. I’ll take a look at monoslideshow as well and see if wouldn’t be just as easy to integrate.
