    Anyone got any advice on the squished square thumbnail issue I’ve got now?

      I think you’d need to set the size of the thumbs in MaxiGallery when you start the gallery.
      What you’ve done is changed the aspect ratio from 4:3 (say 120px by 90px ) to 1:1 ( 100px by 100px ) via the CSS, hence the squish effect

        added the following to my css

        .thumbscontainer {
        margin-bottom: 20px;
        float: left;
        }
        .masker{float:left;
        height:75px;width:75px;
        overflow:hidden;
        padding:10px;
        }

        .masker a img{border:none;}

        and stuck

        <div class="thumbscontainer">
        <div class="masker">

          Nice site there, but keep in mind that 1024x768 is pretty much standard these days.

          ...for Desktops but widescreen monitors are the norm for laptops and at that point you have to consider fullscreen browser vertical viewpane dimension. My screen res on my notebook is 1280X800 but the vertical viewpane with the default toolbars in Firefox and IE is less than 600px high.

          Generally for slideshows and using LightboxJS and the like I try to keep the overall image dimensions under 580X580 to ensure that notebook users don’t have to scroll down for images in such slideshows.
