    Greetings,

    I’ve been playing around with modx and have my site up and running.

    Previously I used e107 for a couple of years but wanted to play with ajax and stuff

    I’m not a developer so there are some flakey bits here (like the login bit under stuff)

    Would appreciate comments on speed/loading times as I’ve got quite a few images on there using maxigallery.

    www.deardenboys.co.uk is the site BTW wink

    EDIT : I’d like to know how to get my thumbnails organised a bit tidier perhaps with some sort of div to make em square

    Cheers

    L00k!

      Your home page slide show is much too big, it’s very awkward to have to scroll to see the whole image.

        Susan, I bet your using a mac laptop.
        It works @ 1280px wide but breaks at anything less.
        To echo another discussion do we stick to 800px or move onto 1024px ?
        I think that 1280px is perhaps a step too far.
        Nice too see full credits for the design etc.
        Is it the Jon Design slide show?

          I guess not everyone uses 1280x1024 yet?

          Might be better now I used % rather than pixels

          Yep its smoothgallery 2.0 with the modification to stop the browser bouncing around.

          Would like to get slimbox working from the slideshow then I’d feel happier about shrinking the images more

          cheers!

            Have you just changed the size of the slide show ? It is now is tall but narrow!

            On the image gallery you could make sure you crop the thumbnails to the same size and then enclose them in a div and style the div img class with a little bit of padding and float them left.

            With the portrait photos I either crop them to be landscape or put them all at the end.

            That would help neaten it up.

            Do you live in Bottesford? I used to live in Nottingham for many years.

              For fixed width designs 960 pixels for actual content works well...

                For the shrunken slideshow using % only works when logged in...weird...now set to 600 as a compromise

                @david yep we’re in botts...small world

                I’m a bit of a div when it comes to the code part. can I crop in the css? Its maxigallery I’m using.

                just modified the maxigallery css a little and got sort of the right result. The thumbs are squished now sad

                .thumbnail {
                width:100px; height:100px; overflow:hidden;
                margin:auto;
                padding:10 10 10 10;

                  I see you’ve got the slide show working with a smaller size, looks good @ 1024px.

                      Nice site there, but keep in mind that 1024x768 is pretty much standard these days.

                      regards.
