Just curious - What made you move to MODx from Etomite? Etomite is one of two other CMS’s I’m considering for a client site.
Sorry for the very late response. I haven’t had as much time as I’d like for MODx recently.
There are a lot of reasons we decided to move from Etomite to MODx. Here are a few of the "bigger" reasons.
1. The extensibilty of MODx was probalby the biggest reason. Our version of Etomite was so very hacked up it wasn’t even funny. Etomite it a nice CMS for a simple site, but once you get as big and complex as our site is you need to look for other options. MODx lets us costomize whatever we need to through plugins and modules.
2. MODx has an active community with many developers and is open to the leading of the community. From my experience Etomite seems to be much more tightly controlled by a much smaller group of people.
3. The features of MODx were very enticing too. I’ve already mentioned plugins and modules but TVs, web users, customizable RTEs and other MODx features made a huge difference (TVs especially).
I could go on and on but I’d better stop while I still can
