  • I forgot to mention that #2 should also include maintaining all the historical versions of the documents and listing them with the parent. That way we can have mods and alternate versions of the contributions/snippets/modules neatly organized in one place.

    • Wouldn’t having version numbers as part of the name, and create a subcategory for it, serve the purpose?

      Snippets
      NewsListing
      NewsListing-1.zip
      NewsListing-2.zip
      DropMenu
      DropMenu-1.zip

      ... etc

      Anyway, that should be #3.

      • I’m sure it would work perfectly, but I’m just not following how this would work exactly. Then again, it’s late and I’m exhausted. Can you type real slow or show a screenshot?

        • Create a category "Snippets", then whoever uploads a new snippet first creates a subcategory for that snippet, and then put the different versions of the snippet in its own subcategory.

Of course, this snippet was not really made for this kind of use, and there is a lot of room for abuse here; any user that can upload a file can also create and delete categories. It should have categories belonging to the user who created them, with an admin user that can work with all files and categories.

And it shouldn’t diplay a list of all files, as it does now by default.

It would also need to have a few additions, such as newest x number of files, most popular x number of files (using number of downloads) and maybe a way to display all files submitted by a given user.
