Yes Bob. For this particular case I have to agree it is done more to impress than to instruct. [Instructing and impressing always go hand in hand to some degree] However there are numerous other case studies there.
If I studied say, 10 case studies on how to build a newspaper site, I would glean enough to make my own sophisticated site.
MODx being more flexible needs even more examples for post-newbies to get ahead.
There is very good support for newcomers on this forum. But advancing further takes some doing.

Agreed. Unfortunatly, most of the people who could create stuff like that are far too busy either earning a living, or working on MODx and MODx add-on code.
Anything can be done in Modx if you have the time to find a solution...
Modx is still in its infancy and it will take time to get this type of documentation.
