    Hi,

I have just put up a initial demo site for a client in Drupal.

    http://www.webke.net/news/

I would have preferred to do it in MODx. Can this be done in MODx?
If so, using which plugins, etc.

    Many thanks,

    Jan

      templating => easy!
about plugins, depends on what kind of web-feature do you need.
you can try find them inside "extra" page.
if there is no plugin, yet, in modx you can embed any kind of PHP code (inside snippet).
Pure PHP (well, using ModX’s db API is highly recommended).
      Please read the WIKI page.

MODx is great, but knowing how to use it well makes it perfect!

          Thanks guys,

          I agree, templating is easy.

However, the ease of changing content. Scheduling the publication of new content and the removal of old content automatically. Cloning content for ease of new publications, Etc.

That is all done by readily available modules in Drupal.
Another thing lacking in MODx are Case studies by people who have already built similar sites.
In Drupal when somebody builds a complex website, they contribute their custom built modules back to Drupal and explain how they built their sites. I don’t see that in MODx.

I wish I knew how to convert some of the Drupal modules to MODx!

These are all built in features of MODx that ship by default. No additional Add-ons needed.

Thanks rthrash. I will look into that.

The lack of case studies makes it a mystery of the capabilities of MODx.

                  Hi flinx,

By case study, I mean someone writing about how they went about building a website. What plugins/modules they used, what problems they encountered and so on.

                  for example: http://drupal.org/node/629664
See the incredible amount of details given!

Case studies of that depth are a great resource but can take the site builder a long time to develop and prepare but it is definitely something others would like to see. I think we could do something like this at some point.

                    Thanks for the feedback.

That Drupal case study appears to be meant more to impress than to instruct. It’s fairly shallow in the sense that they list the add-ons used and what they use them for, but give little or no information about how to install or configure them that I can see or why they chose them over competing add-ons.

I think the same could be done for Bob’s Guides, MuddyDogPaws, modxcms.com, or sottwell.com, etc., in under an hour each (though it wouldn’t be nearly that pretty without a lot more work).
