Make it work on OSX and you have my portion of the bounty, I hope others will contribute as well.
Consider the challenge accepted ;-) As long as I can count on you (or someone else running OSX) for heavy testing.
You my friend, have a deal.
This sounds great!
If it helps, I’m attaching a tar file with version 0.1 of the old modxfs since I’m not sure it’s on the net any more. When I tested it a while ago it would mount and list the sites, snippets, chunks ect. as files and folders but not much more. Maybe it will be of some help.
I don’t have the knowledge to be able to help create this, but it would be an exceptional project if completed!
I'm learning more about MODx all the time and loving it.
Did anyone get this working on OSX? I’ve built it for Fedora(which means I can probably do this for Centos5), it looks interesting for dev shop people who want a file system that can be versioned in say svn and want these changes reflected straight into the database and vice versa.
It needs a bit of work to do this and it also needs to be built(compiled) on the platform its intended for but the bones are there at least. The config script needed hacking but the actual code built OK.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!
Just to resurrect this slightly(not after any bounty here though) I’ve built a php-fuse module rpm for use on centos/fedora, this installs a shared php module that interfaces to the fuse library(I need this for other stuff anyway).
This means we can now implement modxfs in php, which is much better for MODx in that it can now be implemented as a module for evo or a 3PC for revo ie integrate it.
I’ll re-implement the modxfs c code in php, test it, squeeze some bugs out and post it here if anyone want’s to try it.
Sorry osx guys, I have no idea how to do this on osx(there is a mac-fuse impementation I believe) but other than that can’t help.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!
Iäm ready to do some testing as soon as you post anything here, I’m running Ubuntu ans not Feodora though, but I think there is some way of installing rpms on Ubuntu. This would be such a great thing.
Yes Ok thanks, the php-fuse module itself is an excellent piece of work from these guys
http://github.com/fujimoto/php-fuse/tree/master, they originally did this for Debian Lenny but its not supplied as a .deb package, you could of course create one from this source if you wish.
I’ll post the SRPM and the RPM’s I’ve done so far on my site and when I’ve converted the modxfs C code I’ll post this as well. Stay tuned,
If nothing else this is an interesting concept, to edit a template say as a file in the editor of your choice and to see these edits instantly reflected into your DB and hence into your MODx website is quite powerful for some users. It goes the other way as well of course.
Use MODx, or the cat gets it!
If you or someone else gets this working it will become a must have for me, all the copying and pasting takes way to much time and effort when developing snippets and trying complex phx statements.
