    laugh laugh LOL

Strange that for a project I’ m currently doing, I was actually looking at XARAYA first, but decided to go with MODx because:

    • Much nicer backend user interface
    • much less to configure
    • template variables seem more or less the same as dynamic data
    • good logic to link template variables to actual templates smiley

What i missed in MODx was indeed

    • LDAP
    • the hooks system of xaraya, but MODx provides more than enough easy to see through funcionality which enables me to actually start building instead of figuring out all these config settings

About LDAP, you should check this :
      [Plugin] LDAP Authentication Plugin

It’s a development version and not finished it would seem, but a nice starting point for someone to pick up smiley

OK. But returning to the original post, what features *does* xaraya have that MODx does not?

It runs multiple sites of one installation... (I am eagerly waiting for modx to do this)

OKEY I see Xaraya LOST except "Multi-Site-Hosting".
But I’m am soo jealous at WordPress, damn!
They implemented soo many standards, mhhh. IE: XFN - XHTML Friends Network etc.
But the Most interesting is their RPC implementation, which enables me to use a windows application or my mobile phone to add news or articles from anywhere.

WordPress has so many other good aspects, It’s opensource dudes, why not copy or overwork parts of it and integrate into modx?

I love when things go forward!!

Yeah, WordPress is a fabulous program. Too bad they never did anything to optimize DB calls though since it’s "just a blog platform". And the latest release has left a lot of people high and dry since upgrades are from hell and breaking a lot of stuff. It’s the one thing I’ll never understand about Wordpress is why the devs never listened to the SCREAMING on the forum asking for easier upgrades. ModX already has those, at least so far.

I’ve been following ModX for over a year now, and slowly but surely all the good stuff is coming. You just have to be patient (and this comes from someone who isn’t.)

For the record, WordPress skins are my main moneymaker. And I’d rather be working more with ModX, and will be, it’s already happening.

              Agree,
              Xaraya hooks are fabulous.

DavidM: many thanks for the pointer to the LDAP [Plugin] !!

Maybe i can get some ppl over here to look at it and refine it.
I’ll provide feedback if we succeeded in doing some work on it
